Mondays

I tightened my hold on my coat trying to prevent the crisp air from seeping inside. I hurried my pace inside the school building to get out of the chilly air.

I hate Monday's.

I felt like a zombie as I walked through the empty halls. I made it my mission not to be late anymore hence the reason I'm here so freaking early.

Thanksgiving break ended uneventfully and all too soon. The halls were almost empty except a few teacher walking through the halls. I make my way to my locker removing my gloves to undo my lock. I place my books in and shut the door to find Lincoln standing behind the door. "Oh my goodness! The the hell!" I shout my heart racing against my chest. I wasn't happy to see him, especially after the library and dog incident. "Can I help you?" I ask ready for him to leave.

He stood there staring at me until he spoke. "I don't like you and I especially don't like you in my school." His voice held a small rumble.

I placed my lock back on my locker and replied. "I quite frankly don't care what you do and don't like. It wasn't my choice to move and I don't need you causing me anymore trouble so if you would be so kind as to leave me the fuck alone that would be great, perfect actually."

I begin to walk away before he grabs my arm. "I would watch out if I were you." He whispered before letting his hand fall and walking away.

What was his problem with me? I had done nothing to him. I huffed as I made my way to Mr. Smiths class.

The day was uneventful, just like any other Monday. I went home to find the house empty and quite. I set my bag down on the floor near the door and slip my shoes off before walking to let Safire outside.

She never left my side after the day Lincoln brought her back. She always stayed by my side so there was no need for a leash.

My head was killing me again. I had been getting sever headaches for a couple days now. They seem to get worse and worse. I groan as I fish around for some Advil in the medicine cabinet.

After the meds kicked in I grabbed my keys and left the house once more.

I went out to the local coffee shop to do some homework. It was a much more comfortable place to do work, with the slight buzz of people and the smell of coffee brewing.

It was late by the time I shut off my laptop and made my way outside. I parked quite a bit away as there was no parking available earlier, but now the lot was bare.

I pull my coat closer and step off the curb and start making my way to my car across the lot when a hand comes around and clasps over my mouth.

I let a muffled yell out and immediately went into hyper alert.

"Boss will be very pleased to see what I have for him." The man said, his breath on my neck.

I went still and then kicked him in the balls. Hard.

He let out a groan as his hands left my body and he clutched himself. "You bitch!" He welled.

I ran for my car but I couldn't find my keys in my purse. "You'll pay for that!" He yelled as he got up from the ground and ran towards me.

I finally found my keys and unlocked my door, got in and locked the doors. I wasted no time in putting the car in drive and pressed the gas to the floor.

I didn't calm down until I was inside my home with all the doors locked. I called Faith and told her what happened and she left no room for argument as she said she was coming over to stay the night.

A few minutes later the doorbell went off and I unlocked the door to left Faith in, but it wasn't Faith at my door. "What are you doing here Lincoln?" I asked in shock.

"I wouldn't go out alone anymore. Some people find you very valuable." He paused and stuck his hands in his pockets. "I'm here to warn you Angel. Don't go out alone, and watch yourself." With that he left.

Was that a threat? How did he know I was out alone today? How did he know my address?

Faith stayed the night until my mom came home from her business trip. I didn't tell mom about the incident and I made Faith promise to not tell anyone beside Jordan. I didn't want the unwanted attention of others and possibly the criminal.

The weeks passed by in a blur and my headaches seem to be always present. I was currently in gym and my head was killing me. "Babe, you okay?" Faith asked, her voice full of concerned.

"Yeah I'm good. I think I'll head to the nurse and take some Advil."

"You really need to get that checked out you know." Said Faith in a motherly tone.

"You know I don't want to worry mom." Faith sighed knowing she would loose in the argument. We have argued about it too many times.

I sat in the nurses office waiting for the Advil to kick in before going back to class when the door opened.

"How long have you been getting the headaches?" Asked Lincoln in a monotone voice.

I sighed, "Look I really don't feel like dealing with you right now so could you leave? Thanks."

"I'll leave when I want to know answer me, how long?"

I stay silent for a few minutes but realize he won't leave until I answer him. "For a couple of months why?"

He ignores my question and asks his own. "Any dizziness? Ever feeling lightheaded?"

I look at him wearily, "Yeah, occasionally. What do you know? Your hiding something."

He stares at me for a few seconds longer before he starts to walk out, not answering me. "Lincoln." He keeps walking "Lincoln!" I say louder wanting him to stop and answer me. He ignores me and walks out shutting the door softly behind him.

He knows something and I was determined to find it out.
