I shifted awkwardly from foot to foot as I watched Lincoln lazily stride towards me with his hands shoved in his pockets. As he got closer my heart started to beat a nervous rhythm against my chest. Trying to calm my erratic heart I focused my attention on the cart of books awaiting to be put on their shelf. Just as I was picking up a book a fairly large tan hand landed on the cover pushing it back down to the surface of the cart.
I looked up my eyebrows pulled together in confusion. My eyes met Lincoln's magnificent green ones and I sucked in a sharp breath. Just as I was about to speak I was interrupted by the sound of his rich, deep, sexy voice. "I'm not lifting a fucking finger to help the likes of you."
My eyes grew to the size of saucers as I took a slight step back in shock. Before I could even reply to his smart ass he has the nerve to walk straight out of the library. What a dick! Boiling with rage I grabbed a handful of books and started to angrily place them on the shelves with such force that I left the shelves shaking.
What the hell was his problem? I didn't even ask for his help in fact I never wanted it in the first fucking place! Placing the last book on the shelf I traveled back to the cart and grabbed another handful continuing to slam them in there place.
After successfully placing all the books away I glanced at the clock and heaved a great-full sigh as my detention had come to an end. Roughly picking up my bag I stormed out of the library still royalty pissed at Lincoln's dick-ish attitude.
I pushed open the front door of the school and a strong breeze blew my hair into my face along with a light mist of cool rain. Great it was raining too. Just my fucking luck! Pushing my hair out of my face I tightened my hold on my bags strap and braced myself for the chilling rain.
As soon as I stepped out from the shelter of the school the rain began to soak threw my clothes sending a bone chilling shiver throughout my body. Picking up my pace as I ran to my car I try to avoid the many puddles beginning to form. I at least wanted to make it to my car without my shoes getting ruined from the murky puddles.
Yanking the car door open I climb in and quickly shut the door to avoid getting water in the interior. I set my bag in the passenger seat and take a moment to catch my breath. I flip down the visor and examine myself in the small rectangular mirror.
Other than my hair, which was dripping wet as it clung to the sides of my thin pale face, I didn't look all that bad. My mascara had thankfully stayed in place preventing any black streaks to fall down my cheeks.
Sighing I flipped the visor back up and started the car turning the heat on to warm up my frozen body. As I drove back home my thoughts kept going back as to why Lincoln was so rude to me when I had done not a thing to him. I mean for heaven sakes I had never even spoken to the guy before! Shaking my head to get rid of the raging thoughts I turned my attention back to the winding road ahead of me.
I pressed on the brakes lightly causing the car to slow down as I spotted a large brown box on the side of the road. Looking in the rear view mirror to make sure nobody was behind me I pulled over on the side of the road to investigate. Maybe it wasn't a smart idea but hey might as well.
Since the rain had eased up quite a bit I left the keys in the car and stepped out. I was greeted with a cold breeze as I cautiously walked towards the abandoned box. I stilled as I heard a faint whin come from the inside of the box.
I hurried over to the wet cardboard and looked inside to see just what had made the noise only moments ago. I felt my heart constrict as my eyes fell upon a small pup that was violently shivering due to the bone chilling breeze and the poor things wet fur. I had no hesitation as I scooped the small creature and held it to my chest trying to provide warmth to the fragile canine.
