Can we just acknowledge how Leon is probably one of the most if not the most important character in the entire danganronpa franchise. After all he is the very first blackened.
Even though I didn't like how he was killed off I do feel like none of the other characters would've left such a big impact on the player like Leon did when he was executed. Love him or hate him usually people say his execution stuck with them.
And I think the reason his death is so impactful is because of how real he was. Some people might disagree but he was probably the most realistic character out of all of them.
I found teruteru and kaede's deaths not as impactful(kaede's execution was brutal tho)because they're just a bit too cartoonish. Teruteru is obviously played off as a joke character usually meant for comic relief. While kaede was so overwhelming positive it just didn't seem real.
Leon on the other hand seemed like a real person and not just a character. This is why I think making any of the other characters the first blackened just wouldn't fit. And yes I know they only killed him off because he was a base character and they got tired of looking at him which just...pisses me off.
But this was kinda fun to think about. Also now that I think about it because of his character and how real he felt he couldve made a good protagonist.
