Chapter 12: well it's too late now

Kokichis POV

Everything's going ok, so far. It's hard going from spending all day with Shuichi to not much time at all to avoid looking suspicious. Shuichi and I still sleep in the same bed though, we just lock the door at night. I really wanted to tell someone, anyone. But I couldn't bring myself too. I wanted to put it in Kaede's face so bad that I'm dating Shuichi and not her. I can just imagine how mad she'd get. The idea of beating Kaede to the prize makes me very happy. That sounds really mean but in my defense she likes to act as if I don't exist.

Miu, oddly enough, likes to hangout with me a lot lately. I'm assuming it's because she knows people enjoy seeing us fight and the more viewers we get the more money we get. Who knows though, maybe she just likes talking to me.

Kirumi still likes to treat me like her child. I don't mind, I could use a parental figure. She's very caring, I think part of her really wants an actual child but since she can't have one yet, she deals with me. I tend to be a pest but hey, lies are always more fun anyways. Whenever I make a mess with my pranks I like to ask Kirumi to clean it since she takes any task. She likes to reply with "I'm not your mother!" but unfortunately for her, she basically is.

Kaito is so annoying! He's always hanging around Shuichi! I thought after I literally gave my life to save him, we'd be better friends. But noooo, he has to make things complicated with his hatred of lies! I don't even lie as much as I used to anymore! Maki however, is even more annoying. Those two really deserve each other! You can tell they both like each other, only god knows why they aren't dating yet. People like couples, it would bring in more viewers for them.

I'm well aware that telling people I'm dating Shuichi would also get tons of views. I just can't bring myself to do it yet. Maybe one day though. I looked into things that our views seem to enjoy and they REALLY enjoying shipping people. Which is actually pretty awkward since, we're real people. It is nice to see that people would enjoy seeing Shuichi and me together though. Every now and then though I see people fighting over ships and I don't want people to fight over us. I'm sure people who ship Kaede with Shuichi would get mad at me, not sure I want that.

I walked out to the living room looking for someone to hangout with. I saw Miu on the couch look up from her phone as I walked out. She immediately got up.
"Omg Kokichi guess what!"
"What?"
"Look at this cool things I made!" She said as she pulled out a small piece of tape, "it's a really really REALLY tiny camera!"
"A camera? Don't tiny cameras already exist?"
"Well yes, I never said it was my own invention! All I said was that I made it." She seemed bummed I didn't think it was cool.
"What's it for?" I asked trying to keep the conversation going, maybe this will get fun.
"I'm glad you asked!" She said with her confidence levels boosting again. "I made it for spying purposes!"
"Who are you gonna spy on!?" I asked, clearly interested.
"Hmm, not completely sure yet, maybe Shuichi! He seems like a sketchy guy-
"Shuichi's not sketchy! He doesn't do much other than talk to lame Kaito and Maki all the time." I cut her off, crossing my arms.
"Ooo it sounds like someone's mad they don't have Shuichi's attention!"
"M-me? Mad I don't have Shuichi's attention? If I really wanted it I could get it easily!"
"Ok go get it!" Miu said as she saw Shuichi walk into the room, pushing me towards him.

She pushed me so hard than I fell... right onto Shuichi.
"S-sorry!" I stuttered.
"Woah! Kokichi apologizing first without anyone telling him to! You must really lllooovvee Shuichi!" Miu said tauntingly. Shuichi pushed me off of him and stood up.
"I don't think he likes me. I just think, since it was an accident, he feels bad." He smiled and offered me a hand. He then pulled me up to my feet and gave me a head pat.

"Doesn't like you my ass!" Miu said as she slapped me on the back really hard.
"And if he does?" Shuichi questioned Miu.
"I-I don't know! W-why would y-you as m-me!?" Miu ran off. Shuichi looked around and pulled me into a hug.
"You'll be ok kid." I glared at him, kid?! I hate when he calls me kid!
"Quiet!" I pulled away and started to run off but not before Shuichi pulled me back in to kiss me. I started blushing hard so I turned to skip away, no one saw that but what if someone walked in soon after?

Later that night I was getting ready for bed. I threw my clothes on the ground and grabbed Shuichi's hoodie since he wasn't around to tell me no. I crawled up into bed and played on my phone for a bit. Shuichi eventually walked in and started changing. He sighed heavily.
"You ok?" I asked him.
"Just a long day, maybe you were right when you didn't want to do this at first."
"You think?" I laughed, "what happened?" He then came into bed and put his arm around me.
"Kaede never stops talking, it was tolerable at first but now it's just annoying."
"I never stop talking either."
"Yeah but... you're cute." I groaned and nuzzled into his chest., "See, cute!" He laughed. I hate when he calls me cute!

The next morning I woke up to Shuichi gone and someone knocking on our door aggressively. I got out of bed sluggishly and opened the door.
"I have proof!" Miu shouted in my face as she waved her phone in my face.
"Proof of what?" I asked rubbing my eyes.
"Proof you like Shu-" I covered her mouth to cut her off.
"Shh I don't want people getting ideas!"
"No, you don't want people to know the truth! Kokichi Ouma is dating Shu-" I impulsively slapped her.
"What was that?" Kaede peeked around the corner followed by Shuichi.

My hands were on Miu's cheeks. I looked Miu directly in the eyes, giving her the scariest look I could, and said.
"If you tell a single soul, I will end you." She looked terrified and it was honestly kinda funny. Kaede walked up to us and pushed us away from each other. Shuichi looked at me, I think he could tell what was going on.
"Tell anyone what?" Kaede questioned. I glared at Miu menacingly.
"I don't wanna die!" Miu yelled.
"You won't die-" Kaede said before getting interrupted by Shuichi, "she might." Everyone looked at Shuichi.
"What? It's true." he said with a shrug.

I started moving towards Miu but Shuichi grabbed me and pulled me away.
"Good idea! Hold him back." Kaede commented.
"You're going to be fine no matter what, ok? I'm here for you" Shuichi whispered in my ear as Kaede tried to calm Miu down.
"Excuse me?!" Kaede yelled looking right at me, "Did you steal my man?!"

Shuichi let me go and walked over to Kaede, trying to reassure her that it wasn't true. Miu pulled out her phone and played a video. The video was of me and Shuichi sleeping last night. I walked over to the shirt I took off after I got to our room yesterday and found Miu's tiny camera on the back. She must've put it there when she slapped my back yesterday. Kaede walked over to me and was surprisingly strong enough to pick me up. Not strong enough however, to still hold onto me when Shuichi stole me.

"That's an invasion of privacy Miu." Shuichi said sternly.
"Y- you two are f- fucking around!" She responded. Kaede was holding onto Shuichi like her life depended on it.
"If we didn't want anyone to know about us dating, I think we have a right to keep it private." Shuichi was calm. It didn't matter to him if anyone knew or not, but he knew it mattered to me.
"Shuichi! Tell me it's not true! You can't be cheating on me!" Kaede screamed through loud cries.

"What's not true?" Monokuma asked as he peeked around the corner.
"N-nothing!" I yelled hoping he'd leave us alone.
"Miu made a fake video to make me sad!" Kaede yelled.
"F-fake video? I- I assure you it's r-real."
"Whaaa why would Miu try to make Kaede sad?! That's so mean!" I cried. Shuichi put me down and Monokuma walked away unamused.

I immediately ran and tackled Miu, pulling her hair and trying my best to make her shut up.
"Kokichi stop." Shuichi said as he pulled me off of her.
"She can't just do that!" I yelled back. Kaede ran off looking really sad. Miu chased after her. I started hitting Shuichi's chest. He just took it, letting me get it all out. When I finally slowed down to a stop he hugged me. He seems to solve everything with hugs... not that I mind.

"Gonta heard screaming is everything ok- oh, Gonta sees." Gonta came out of nowhere. Shuichi kissed my forehead, he seems to like doing that too.
"Congratulations! Gonta knew this was going to happen sometime!" I didn't really want to move but I didn't want more people to know than they had already so I left his hug. I stood up high and gave him a kiss on the cheek and stomped off.
