Adam's POV
Back when our days were normal, James and I would do many traditions. One of them, was apple picking. It was a good way to get out of the cramped house and be in the sunlight. Plus, we kept whatever we got. James and I always made the best apple pies, at least that's what our friends said.
As I pulled up into the parking lot, James started to bounce in excitement. Maybe the apple trees were triggering a memory, or maybe he's just really cute and really wants to pick apples. Whatever it was, it was adorable.
We grabbed our baskets and walked into the apple orchard, looking for ripest apples in the pack. Or at least I was. James in the other hand was squeezing my hand, looking at every single tree we could find, admiring all the colors. How his eyes lit up when he saw each new shade of red, orange, or yellow made my heart skip a beat. I missed this so much.
Finally, we stopped at a tree and started to pick each apple. I got each one down with ease but James seems to be having a hard time. "Adam!" he whined, "How come they won't come off?" I
I chuckled and walked over to him. "It's because you're doing it all wrong. Watch me." I grabbed his hand and helped him twist the steam and bring the apple down. As I was doing so, I saw James look at me with shock. His cheeks were a little pink but, it seemed not be the changing weather causing them to look that way. Whatever it was...it made my heart flutter.
"Woah...thanks Adam!" he said happily.
"Hey no problem James. Just call if you need anything."
We continued to pick fresh apples without any harm. James decided to grab a ladder to get some from the top. I agreed as he grabbed one and got on top. As soon after the ladder started to wobble around, slowly throwing James off balance. This quickly grabbed my attention as I ran over to catch him, as soon as he fell off.
And there it was, this tall blond man staring up at me as I held him in my arms as if he was my bride. He cheeks flushed as soon as it happened and I quickly put him down.
"Thanks for the catch Adam..." James mumbled.!I nodded shyly and went back to work. Clumsy Jameson, just like he always was.
💙~💔
Once we finished bagging all our apple, we put them in the car and slid back in. I looked at James and stared at him. "So...did you have fun?"
"Lots!" He replied cheerfully.
"How do you feel?"
"Great!"
"Did you...remember ever going there?"
"A little yeah! We went there like five or six times before."
"Did anything special happen there?"
"I don't think so. At least, I don't remember."
I felt my heart split in two as he said that, I looked away and just started the car.
"That was where we had our first kiss..."
