Day 52 - Meet Ups

Adam's POV

I paced back and forth as I stare at my phone. Jaiden wanted to schedule a meet up between us and a couple of friends. It was basically to check up on me, I should know since we did this before. Ever since James passed, I would hang out with them less. Not because I don't like them...it's because being around them just reminded me of how much I missed him. So many of my most treasured memories with James were from just talking with him and some friends. It's just so hard to imagine him not being there.

Even with him back now there's no way I can take him to the others. They would have so many questions as to how he's back, what I did, how long the spell is gonna work. I'm honestly worried the secret of a temporary extension of life being out and available, especially at the expense of Swirl. I'll tell them one day...just not now.

I grabbed a jacket and slid on my boots at I grabbed my keys. I passed by James's room on my way downstairs. I heard footsteps following me down, "Where you going Adam? Can I come?"

"Oh well...sorry James. I'm just going to go meet some friends that's all." I explained as I tried to back my way down the stairs.

"Can I come too!? I'd love to meet your friends! I bet they're all cool and compassionate like you Adam!"

I bit my lip as my heart raced. My cheeks were red now just by the compliment alone. Why is he so cute all the time? Why can't I just kiss him? Looking back into his eyes only made it harder to say no to him. He looked so excited to meet everyone else. There had to be some way to make sure he didn't have to miss out. Maybe if I just explained why it's so important to keep things a secret than they would do it. I mean they are our friends after all. Plus, this could help jog some of his memories.

"Fine...I guess you could come with me but we're gonna make this a surprise okay?"

"Cool, sounds great! Let me go grab my jacket and I'll be back down in a bit!" James yelled. He's just so cute and kinda childish but that's expected when your mind has been whipped for most of your life.

I took a long and deep breath as I made my way over to the table my friends were sitting at. It was a small cozy café with a great view. Right at the table in the middle were Jaiden, Illy, Maaz, Tim, and Rush. All attention was on me as I walked in through the doors. We all exchanged hugs and handshakes as we all sat down.

"Adam! It's been so long! How's it been going man?" Maaz asked.

"Good good. Just working on stuff as usual." I responded.

"How have you been since...you know...?" Illy asked respectfully.

"Well...that's what I wanted to talk to you about. I have this friend of mine who were gonna keep secret, there a witch! They well...did a spell that brought James back to life. He's been living with me for a while now and he doesn't have all his memory. He doesn't remember dating me, YouTube, or even you guys. I brought him here hoping that this will give him a spark, something to remember some memories with!" I explained.

Everyone stared at me as if I had three heads. None of them believed me.

"Adam...mourning is really hard and we know your going through a lot. Why don't we just sit down and-"

Tim was cut off by James peaking into the café and giving a confused and unsure look. "Adam, am I ready to meet them yet?"

Everyone jumped up and screams out of disbelief. They all ran over to James and hugged him tightly and cried on his shoulders. I could tell that James was confused and a little fearful with how everyone was reacting to his appearance.

"Holy shit...h-how...how are you alive man!? Did you fake your death or something?" Rush asked.

James gave him the most frightful and confused face, "Death...? What are you guy talking about?"

"Woah...A-Adam you were telling the truth? You...you brought him back from the dead?" Jaiden asked drying her tears.

"Yeah," I whispered. "Don't you guys ever think I'm insane again!"

James backed up and held his head. Everyone quickly backed away from him and stared at his face. Must of been some migraine from the position. "James...? Are you okay?" I asked.

"J-Jaiden...Illy...Maaz, Rush, Tim!" he mumbled. We all stared at him I'm total shocked. "Hey I know you guys!! Oh my gosh it's been so long! I missed you!"

Everyone happily laughed and hugged James again. I stared back at them all together feeling a little heartbroken. He could remember his friendship with them...how come he couldn't remember his relationship with me?
