*Seulgi's pov*

As soon as I was released from the hospital, I went straight to Irene's house. I climbed up the doorsteps to her porch and looked at the window to see my reflection, fixing the few rebellious strands of hair before straightening my shirt. I raised my right arm and sniffed my armpit, scowling at the unpleasant smell of the hospital, a mixture of anonymous chemicals and disinfectant.

Maybe I should've taken a shower before coming here.

I took mentally shook my head and took in a deep breath.

It'll be fine, you're just going to go see Irene. Stop overthinking Seul, it's just Irene.

But no matter how hard I tried to calm myself down, the nervousness just wouldn't go away. I paced back and forth while nibbling my lower lip, wondering how I should greet her.

"Hey irene boy, wassup?"

No, that didn't sound right.

"Rene my girl, what's gucci?"

Not it either.

"Howdy Rene-"

What?! No.

"Hola mi amor, como estas?"

Come on Seul, you're getting off of track!

After mentally debating on what I should say, I stopped in my steps and stared at my feet.

"Irene, I missed you."

I took another deep breath, finally turning towards the door and knocking before I could back out. With hands clasped tightly in front of my stomach, constantly fiddling with my knuckles and weaving my fingers in and out of each other, Irene opened the door. As soon as I saw her face, my face lit up and a smile grew on my face, forgetting all my worries and doubts. But Irene didn't seem to share the same reaction, not looking as happy or excited as I hoped she'd be. Her eyes fell to my arm, the expression on her face hardening as she stared at the cast and sling around my left arm.

"Oh, this is nothing," I chuckled sheepishly. "The doctor's told me to wear it for a few days so that I don't use my arm too much, but other than that, my shoulder's completely healed."

She just gave me a small nod before shifting her eyes elsewhere, fixing her eyes on the ground.

"What are you doing here?" She mumbled, the cold and distant tone in her voice making me flinch.

"What do you mean, what am I doing here?" I forced out another chuckle, pretending like I didn't notice the heavy atmosphere that hung in the air. "I came to see you of course, I just got release from the hospital."

I scratched the nape of my neck, pursing my lips and swallowing down the pain in my voice so that my words would sound light-hearted. "I tried to contact you ever but you never replied, it kind of hurt my feelings."

"Sorry, my parents confiscated my phone," she answered flatly. My brows drew together, knowing that she was lying. Irene's parents weren't strict people and even if they were, she was too good of a kid to get into any trouble, so there was no way that her phone was "confiscated". I stood there, not knowing if I was supposed to be mad about the fact that she was lying straight to my face or about the fact that she didn't even try to tell a believable lie."

"Right," I murmured in a small voice. "So um, what have you been up to?" I asked, my voice still filled with fake enthusiasm. "You didn't come visit me since I woke up from my coma so I'm guessing that you were busy?"
