Kristy's POV

I left Greece a little over a week ago. I've been trying to get my life back to normal. Fitting in with my father at the office. I didn't tell my parents about what happened in Mykonos. I stayed vague about it all and told them Emms and I had a wonderful time. Despite what happened, I couldn't get my mind off Eros. I left out the journal he bought me on the desk in my room. Just to look at it every time I passed by. To let myself not be able to forget about him. Why?

I'm insane!

Putting myself through pure torture. Especially seeing Emily walking around all happy and perky with her boyfriend. Theo and her were really trying to make things work. Even being oceans apart. Even with a huge time change between them. She seemed happy and I was happy for her, just a little bitter at the moment.
"Hey, how are you doing?" she asked me coming into our apartment.
"I'm fine" I said gloomy and slumped over on the couch.

"Mmhmm, you look fine

"Mmhmm, you look fine...moping around on the couch again. She had to remind me this was the exact state I was in before we left for Mykonos.
I do my best to throw the pillow at her.
"Look, please don't hate me...." she said looking like she's in trouble, and from what she said already, I know I'm not going to like what's coming.
"What did you do?"

*knock knock*

"Emms?"
"I said don't hate me ok!" she runs away from me and goes to open the door to our apartment and in walks my mom.
"Mom?"
"Kristy..." she says with a heavy sigh walking right over to me and squeezing me in a hug.
I notice Emily is nowhere to be found so she is totally hiding from me which means she did something.
"Sweetie, Emily told me what really happened on the trip" my mom said pulling me out of her hug and looking in my eyes.
"She WHAT?" I had an overwhelming feeling of emotions. Embarrassed, upset, sad, everything.
"EMILY!" I shouted at her to show I had found out what she did and that I was in fact not happy about it at all! Off in the distance, I heard her answer from behind her closed bedroom door.
"I TOLD YOU NOT TO HATE ME! IT'S FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!"
"EMMS!" I shouted at her again.
"I LOVE YOU?" she shouted back.

"Kristy, come sit down. We have a lot to talk" my mom got my attention and patted the couch seat next to her.
"Mom...it's over ok" I said, speaking about Eros.
"You don't want to take over the company for your father, do you?" she said, taking me by surprise. Well, I guess Emily told her more than just about Eros on the trip.
"Mom..."
"Kristy, it's ok" she said calmly.
"No, it's not! You and dad want me to keep the family business going. I'm fine with that"
"I'm not! And neither is your father!"
"But..." I was now completely confused.
"Kristy, your father and I want what's best for you, but we want you to be happy most of all."
"I don't want to disappoint you" I said tearing up.
"You could never do that. Your father and I love you more than anything. So, if running the company isn't what you want to do, it's ok"
"Dad was counting on me to take over! What's he going to do if I don't? He was looking forward to retiring"
"Let your father worry about that" she held my hand for comfort.
"Plus, I think that man would be bored as all heck the minute he doesn't have a company to run" she rolled her eyes thinking of her own truthful comments.
"If you want to be a food blogger or whatever your passion is, we will support your decision honey. We love you and want to see you happy" she said with a warm smile.
"Thanks, mom" I was tearing and chocked up at the sincerity of the mother, daughter moment we shared. I never thought I'd have this conversation with my parents and I never thought that would be their reaction to me not wanting a career in the family business.
"So, tell me about this Eros! His name does have quite a ring to it!" she said raising her eyebrows up and down. "It sounds much spicier than Nicholas!"
"MOM!" A wave of blush and embarrassment flooded my face at her comments and she tilted her head back and laughed.
"Oh honey, we were all young once!"
Oh my God!" I hid my face in the palms of my hands.
"I never told you this before Kristy but I'll tell you now. I was engaged to someone else before your father"
"You what?" I was shocked I had never known this before.
"That's right. Anthony was his name"
"We were together for three years before he proposed" she added.
"So how did you meet dad?"
"He came into the bank I worked at one afternoon" she said vaguely and I kept waiting for more of the story.
"And...!"
"I just knew that day...he was the one I was meant to be with"
"What? What about Anthony?"
"I broke it off and went on my first date with your father. The rest was history" she said smiling.
"How did you know?"
"When you know, you know. All I can say is sometimes the heart knows what it wants and you have to follow it blindly sweetie"

***

I woke up the next day lost and confused. I had a lot to think about now. I never could have imagined my life would change directions like it just did.

I could finally do what I loved to do, write, and explore foods. The problem was, I couldn't see where my life would end up and I had no idea how to even start. I felt frozen and scared. I had no money to travel so how was I going to explore to try different foods?
Maybe I should just convince my parents it was a crazy pipe dream after all and I wanted to stay put in the comforts and familiarity of the family business. At least there I felt like my life was mapped out for me, just like when it was with Nicholas. I knew where my life would go. There wouldn't be any surprises, no fear that would hold me back.

Emms had left early in the morning and has been distant ever since she called up my mom. Not telling me where she was going but she looked once again devious in her plotting. So when I got a knock on the door, I figured it was her again. Maybe she forgot the key or something. I go to open the door and my jaw nearly drops to the floor seeing who was standing in front of me.
