Kristy's POV

"Nicholas!" I gasped at the sight of him.
"Wh-what are you doing here?"
"Kristy! I had to see you!" he pushed himself through the door. I hadn't seen Nicholas in what felt like years, yet, I couldn't deny he still looked handsome as always. A little bit of scruff and his natural, not slicked back hair with gel - like when he wears his fancy lawyer suits going into court.
"I missed you baby" He walks towards me and intertwines his hands with mine. My head is literally spinning. I feel so confused with every single participle going on in my life and now Nicholas is here, standing in front of me, telling me he misses me.
"I saw you went to Greece. Did you have a good time?" He asked me.
"Ummm....y-yea, it was really nice" I said with a loud gulp.
"Come talk to me. I want to hear all about it!" He led me to the couch and I felt my heart pounding out of my chest! We sit next to each other, our knees touching like he had never left me and he never let go of my hand.
"Well...it was a food tour around Greece" I stayed vague as my mouth went as dry as a desert.
"A food tour?"
"Yea! It was amazing actually. I mean, you know I love Greek food but there were so many foods I've never tried before!" I went on. "I pretended I was a food blogger. I started writing down in a journal the different foods I'd try and how I would describe them if I had my own blog"
"A food blog? Is there even such a thing?" he questioned.
"Yea, it's mostly people who travel the world and get to try all kinds of exotic foods from different cultures and parts of the world. It's always been my dream. You know that!"
"Ummm, yea...I remember" he said in a tone that didn't sound very convincing.
"Well, tell me about Boston. How's your job?" I diverted the conversation to him escaping so he wouldn't find out about Eros or where exactly I was in Greece.
"Oooh! Kristy! It's amazing!" He nearly jumped out of his seat in excitement.
"Our last case, we defended this guy who was accused of killing his wife!" he said with excitement again and my face turned to horror.
"Oh, God!"
"But we won the case saying he was falsely accused and the murder weapon as evidence was tampered with by the mistress! I gave the closing argument and I think that's what really sold the jury! Ooh, Kristy, you should have been there!"
"Wow, that's great Nicholas. I'm...I'm happy for you" I said with a solemn tone of him wanting me there. If he wanted me there, why did he end things?
"So, you think the mistress killed his wife?" I asked.
"Oh no! He did it for sure! His mistress was the housekeeper so her fingerprints were all over everything. It was an easy pin" he said casually and my mouth practically fell to the floor in shock.
"O-oh! So he's just going to be let out?" I asked.
"That's how it is. And if he commits another crime, I'll be paid to represent him again in court!"
"B-but"
"I know what you're going to say...we talked about this already during my internship at school." his tone sounded aggravated.
"It's not my job to pass judgment, Kristy. It's my job to defend my clients the best I can"
"I know...it's just...don't you feel guilty knowing he really did it?"
"We're not concerned with what they did as much as we are concerned with what we can prove" he said, speaking like a true lawyer.
"As their criminal defense attorney, I have a role to play regardless if someone is guilty or innocent" he said now defending himself and his career choices but then went back to thinking about his victorious win with excitement.
"But, I wish you were there with me baby. I miss you"
"Nicholas" I let out a heavy sigh and tried to take my hand out of his.
"I love you, Kristy! I want you back! I need you back!" he said with needy puppy eyes.
"Why didn't you ask me to come with you to Boston to begin with, Nicholas?"

Now he breaks his hand from mine and gets up off the couch pacing across the floor in front of me running his hands through his thick brown hair, as if he had hoped I wouldn't ask him that question.
"Ugh! I don't know babe...we were together all through college! I guess part of me felt tied down" he admitted as he kept pacing.
"I mean we never really had the opportunity to explore other things...you know" he added as I noticed him bow his head as if he knew what he meant by explore other things...or other women!
