Blaire's POV

I ring the doorbell, patiently waiting for Ryder to open up.

He texted me a couple of minutes earlier, saying he wanted to tell me something important. So I quickly came over. It wasn't like my weekend was booked anyway.

"Blaire? Hey, how've you been?" Myles greets me once he's opened the door.

"I'm fine. Uh, is Ryder in?"

"Of course. In the living room." He says, cocking his head in the direction of the living room.

"Thank you," I smile at him before walking over to the living room.

I freeze, feeling the tension in the air. Ryder and Ian were both on two different couches, but I could tell that something was wrong.

I mean, they're quiet!

"Blaire?" Ian notices me first. He's immediately off the couch, and engolfing me in a hug, "I haven't seen you in a while."

I awkwardly nod, my gaze on Ryder. He seemed pissed.

"How've you---"

"C'mere," Ryder interrupts me. He opens his arms, motioning me to come over.

I walk over to him, sitting in between his outstretched hands, that were instantly around me, "How've you been, baby?" He finishes with a peck on my temple.

I look over to where I last saw Ian, but he was gone. I instantly relaxed, the tension lifting. "I'm fine," I make myself comfortable, leaning on his front. I lean my head back so it rested on his shoulder, and held his arms that were around me. "So, what's so important that I had to come here?"

"Daniel wants to meet you."

My eyes pop up, that I spun around, so we were face to face, "Your dad wants to meet me and you didn't bother telling me earlier?!" I whack his chest multiple times, "I'm not ready! I'm going back to change." I stand from the couch.

He grabs my arms, pulling me back to him, "That's exactly why I didn't tell you. I wanted you to be yourself." He shrugs, "I honestly never wanted you to meet him. He's a dick."

"Stop! You're making me not want to meet him," I tease, but he looked serious. "Fine. When will I meet him?"

"Now," he simply states, before turning his head back and yelling. "Dad! She's here!"

"Now?!" I panic.

He didn't bother saying anything. And in no time, a man appears before us. He looked professional. Even in jeans and a T-shirt.

I was instantly off the couch, walking up to him, trying to keep my cool. "Hey," I awkwardly say.

"You must be Blaire," he says shaking my hand.

"Yes."

"I've heard a lot about you," he leads us to another couch and we sit together.

***

Awkward.

That's the right word for it.

Daniel wasn't mean in any way. He was just intimidating, so it was awkward for me.

In the middle of him asking me about school, a lady walks into the room. I instantly recognized her.

It was Stella.

"Lunch is ready," she announced with a bright smile.

And in no time, we're all here. The whole family and I eating together. Awkward was still the word for it.

We all ate in silence, the tension slapping people in the face. It wasn't great, I tell you.

I awkwardly pick at my leftovers. Ryder and Ian having a stare-off. Daniel giving me looks. Stella trying to keep a smile on. And Myles trying to lighten the mood.

"Blaire," Daniel finally speaks up. "How's Ryder treating you?"

Everyone in the table, excluding myself, froze at his words. I honestly have no idea why they'd react like that. It wasn't like Ryder was secretly evil or something.

"He's really nice," I simply say, dropping the topic.

I place my hand on Ryder's, under the table. He seemed nervous about this whole thing. I know he hates his father, but I know, his dad's opinion mattered to him. He just won't admit it.

Ian's POV

I woke up in the middle of the night. Everyone was probably still in bed, but I sure as hell needed a drink.

I walk down the stairs, into the living room. But I instantly freeze. They couldn't see me, but I knew exactly who they were.

"Ryder, I'm leaving after graduation. Not forever though. My aunt's filing a divorce, since my uncle beats her shitless."

"Do you even want to go?"

"No. I hate Uncle Stan, he scares me, to be honest."

That's when my eyes widened, "Stay here then." I said aloud, making their heads turn to me.

"You were listening? How long were you fucking there?" Ryder complains, but I ignore him.

"Are you serious?" Blaire asks.

"I'm serious. Stella and dad wouldn't mind. Trust me."

I was 100% sure.
