Stony: Cops

Weeks later

Steve and tony were headed to the mom and pop shop at the end of the block. It had been a few weeks since Steve started this assignment and new that it was all coming to and end very soon. Tony had broken several laws when he had Jarvis break into places Steve hadn't even heard about.

The two walked into the book store.

---2 DAYS EARLIER---

Steve walked into the station and headed to his desk. He wasn't there for 15 minutes before fury called Steve in to his office.

"Captain?" Steve walked in then shut the door to the office, "nick, I need to more time. Two days. If I can't get him to confess then will be at the mom and pop shop in two days.

"It's nice to know we're on the same page."

Steve sat down with fury, "just one thing?" Fury nodded his head then Steve continued, "when you arrest him, please take me in too, and after this... I'm done," Steve stood up and was about to leave when fury said, "you're going to quit because of him. Steve you knew what this-" fury was cut off by Steve. "Sir, you sent me in there. I knew the risks and I still fell for the man. You've known me since I was a kid in school. Sir, I can't put myself in a situation like that again."

"Is there nothing I can do to change your mind. Your one of my best detectives."

Steve looked down, "one month. I'll give it one more month. Now remember what I said. Take me in too. I don't want him thinking anything."

Fury nodded then Steve left.

---Mom and Pop Shop---
Tony and Steve weren't even in the shop for 15 when Bucky and the other detectives on the case walked in.

"Anthony Edward Stark and Steven Grant Rogers you are under arrest. Bucky placed the handcuffs on Tony. another officer came in and handcuffed Steve then took them and placed them in the squad car.

---CAR---

Tony looked at Steve, "I'm so sorry I got you mixed in this," Steve stayed quiet, "just stay quiet. I'll have my lawyers down here to help you get out of this."

"Tony?"

"Yes?"

"Don't worry about me. I knew what you were getting into. I don't care."

Tony looked down, "thank you, and I'm sorry."

POLICE STATION
INTERROGATION ROOM ONE

Bucky walked in with a file then dropped it on the table in front of tony. Before Bucky could say anything tony stood up and said, "I don't care what happens to me. I'll confess to everything. Steve, he didn't do any of this. He tried to get me to stop. I just, I had to find my sister."

Bucky and Steve took their seats, "Mr. Stark, their were proper channels to go through. There were ways to find her." Tony said, "they say the first 48 hours matter the most. I had to find her, even if it was her body."

An officer knocked at the door then walked in and handed Bucky a note then left. Bucky read the note then said, "looks like you've got a guardian angel Mr. Stark. The DA got word from someone in the precinct about your case. They are going to let this off with community service hours and a ankle monitor. so, what do you say?"

Tony looked down then took a deep breath, "what about Steve?"

Bucky said, "you must really care for him, don't you?"

Tony looked up, "he saved my life. I... I don't care what your thinking, but i fell in love with that man. It only took me two days to fall for him and from then on I knew he'd be the one I'd spend my life with. He doesn't deserve to be dragged into this."

"He won't be. If this does go to court then you two will be plaster all over front page news."

Tony said, "Detective Barnes, the police have already failed me once. Please don't let them fail me again. Steve, tell him I'm sorry, please," tony looked down as Bucky looked at the two way mirror that led to Steve and Fury.

--- OBSERVATION ROOM---

"Looks like he fell in love with you Detective," fury looked at Steve, "I'll make sure your cover doesn't get blown."

"Thank you sir."

"I'm surprised you called in a favor to your friend Counselor Dugan. You must really like this guy." Steve looked at fury, "I do." fury walked to the door then said, "good luck telling him everything. I hope that it all works out in the end."

"I do too," Steve looked down as fury left.
