Better Together Part 3

Moving Forward

It had been a few weeks since the rescue mission and all the Wildcats seemed to be recovering well. However, CC and the team couldn't forget the original mission that they had already. "So if we travel up this way, we'll make it to Husky Academy in just a few days." CC said as she pointed out the maps. "Traveling this way is hard though, you've got steep mountains." Caroline pointed out. "But if you cross this path, it'll get us to a good point over here." Kate realized. "Maybe taking this path but then taking the route over there will help us get to the main part over there." Vincent added. "Do we even have enough supplies?" Kevin asked. "Maybe we can ask if we can get a few supplies from the Cougars if they'll let us." Yoani replied. "If anything we just need to get past all this snow. It's the hardest thing to deal with and be able to just keep going." Hannah told them.

As they were planning, CC didn't notice her Wildcat family coming up to see her. "Carmen, whatcha doing?" Michelle asked coming up from behind. "Oh, right now we're working on how to get to Husky Academy, but we still don't know how we're going to do this." CC replied looking back at the map. Michelle sat down and looked at the map. "Can someone make this 3D? I think I see something!" she replied. Allijah shrugged and made it 3D where Michelle could see it better. Michelle looked at it and zoomed in on hidden trails. "Wait a minute! I need someone else for this!" she replied and ran off. She came back with Audrey and Yanira who looked confused about why they were being brought here. "What do you need us to do again?" Audrey asked. "Do you see that trail? Can you estimate how long it would take with the snow?" Michelle asked.

Audrey took a look and saw a trail and start doing the math in her head. "About 2 days and three hours. That is without breaks." Audrey replied. "And according to the altitude on these mountains, this trail has the least amount of snow. Should be about 5 inches of snow." Yanira replied. "You'll only need snowshoes and since some of you guys Phoenix's. If you can get your wings 50 degrees Fahrenheit, or maybe even hotter than that, maybe you can melt the snow as you walk." Isabel F. chimed as she heard their conversation. The whole group was shocked by the Wildcats making this discovery, but CC wasn't so surprised. "Thank you guys! You just made our lives a little easier!" CC thanked and they all smiled happily. After they walked away and the group packed up a few things from their meeting. "Wow, your friends knew a lot." Kat finally said stunned. "I'm not too shocked. They've always been smarter than me...most of the time. But thankfully now we've got out info." she replied.

Once they shared their ideas with the Headmistress, Mrs. Hamler agreed to give them the supplies they needed and even agreed to house the Wildcats that needed a place to stay until all the crazy stuff was over. "They'll be safe here. Cougars are quite fierce when tested." Mrs. Hamler reassured. "We appreciate it Mrs. Especially after the whole me almost dying incident!" CC thanked. "No problem at all! Now I'm supposing you're going to get ready for the journey?" she replied. "Yes actually we are, we just wanted to come to thank you for all your help!" CC replied. "You are always welcome here." she replied. Taking one last bow, they went off to their quarters to gather their stuff. That's when Yanira and Izzy F. walked into the room. "Carmen, you're already leaving?" Izzy F. asked surprised. "Yeah... I am. I know it's quick but trust me when I saw I will come back. I won't die this time!" CC reassured. "Well, it looks like we're just going to have to come with you to make sure that doesn't happen!" Yanira replied defiantly.

CC then tried to convince them not to come. "No! I need you guys to stay here! It's safe here! Besides... what if I lose... they'd just take you back." CC cried. "We won't let that happen. Let us come, we can help!" Izzy F. begged. "Yeah, c'mon sis! Please!" Yanira begged. CC looked at how determined they were and finally relented. "Fine. But you guys better not complain!" CC agreed. They squealed and ran off to find their stuff. As CC continued to pack, her brothers walked into the room. "Oh dear sister of ours, don't think that we're not coming either!" Perrin told her. "Oh come on, not you guys too!" she protested. "Oh yeah, we are. Look, someone has to watch your back! Otherwise, you'll be lost!" Braden replied. CC rolled her eyes but agreed. Geez, how many more people are gonna come on this journey! CC thought as she packed the box containing the stones into her backpack. "Ohhh Carmen!" went Mia. CC looked to see Mia, Campbell, Caroline G., Jorjah, Michelle, Nathalie G., Ella W., and Landon standing there ready to leave.

"Guys for real?" she whined. "Yep! Don't you dare say we can't come cause we are anyway!" Campbell replied bumping her gently. "I guess I don't have much of a choice do I?" CC asked. They all shook their heads and she relented once more. "UGH FINE!" she shouted. All the Wildcats had a quick laugh and soon they all met up outside the Academy before they'd be dismissed. "Really CC?" Synclaire teased. "I was forced to ok!" she snapped. "Are you guys all ready?" Emery asked them. Everyone nodded and made sure their stuff was on properly. And with those final words, the whole group ran or flew off into the distance.
