It was no coincidence that Harry Potter would be just another person from your childhood. He used to be your best friend. Your most trusted person. If it weren't for you, he would have gone completely mad in that house and you hated it you couldn't do anything more but comfort him about it.
Harry and you met each other in school. You were a year older than him but that never bothered any of you. You saw him as a first-grader, a kid you have never seen in your life, being bullied by your neighbor, Duddley Dursley.
You always despised the Dursleys. They never did anything to you but they always gave odd energy.
Harry was furious when you stepped in to stop the bullying. He always said he can take care of himself but somehow he let it slip that Dudley Dursley was his cousin.
' "Cousin? I didn't know the Dursleys had any other family members but that big fat lady with a dog?" you quivered as he stared.
"Uhm...well," he mumbled, knowing he let something secretive slip out.
" What side of the family?" you smiled, sitting on the ground opposite of him and smiling at him with a friendly face.
"Mum's." he smiled vaguely in return. '
You didn't let your curiosity scare him away. No, you were the kind of person who saw a boy, small and all bones, as the little brother you never had.
So you walked him home every day because his aunt and uncle were too horrible to drive him as they did Dudley. But he always said he preferred to walk. That way he would have a reason to be with you longer.
That wasn't the only time the two of you met. You had to sneak off, sometimes at night sometimes in the middle of the day but the two of you always found time to be together. Some days he came over whenever the Dursleys left for a trip into the town or sometimes during the weekend.
Everything seemed to be going well with the two of you until you discovered you were a witch and had to leave for Durmstrang. Hogwarts was the first wizarding school to send you a letter but your parents, as much shocked as they were, made more research and decided for you to go to a better school, so you left for Durmstrang instead.
Harry was confused when he didn't see you during weekends and school days as he thought he would. He was angry and upset you left him like that and the summer after he finished his fifth grade in middle school you had to be quite persistent to make the most stubborn person to forgive you.
But he did and you simply told him your parents shipped you to school in Switzerland. Though it was not true and you felt horrible for lying, you were simply afraid of his reaction to you being a wizard.
The same was with Harry. He never told you. He saw you as the only person with a connection to the Muggle world. Someone with whom he can be Harry, just Harry.
It didn't take you long to figure out he was a wizard. It wasn't him but the tales of the Boy Who Lived, Harry Potter, who just started his first year at Hogwarts.
You couldn't believe your ears. You needed about three days to process this and you wanted to write to him as soon as you heard but then again...why hasn't he told you yet? Maybe he would the next time the two of you met? Or maybe you were afraid if he found out you were a witch yourself that he would be mad for you not telling him that as soon as you found out?
Nevertheless, you never told him and he never told you. Though you tried to hint it by talking about wizards and magic he just didn't want to tell you.
Maybe you preferred it that way.
That was until your grandfather passed away and your dad had trouble financing his own shop. He was a wreck and he made you transfer school from Durmstrang to Hogwarts. He said he wanted the family to be together, not far away in some Russia or wherever the school was hidden.
