There is nothing better than achieving something you always fantasised for years. To look in the faces of those who thought you were crazy, that you would never make it. People who always told you to wake up and face reality.

I, Lerato Moloi, defeated all odds.

Moving to Australia was my goal but I had to make a few tweaks to my plan and instead I settled for New York.

New York had many advantages. I could live with my older brother completely rent free for the time being. New York was a busy city. No one cared what anyone was doing and coming from a country where my surname was associated with the heroic acts of my grandmother, it was refreshing.

New York also came with unexpected opportunities. I currently worked for a small magazine company while studying Business and Finance at NYU on an international scholarship.

Life was great.

But of course it didn't last long.

"Wake up!" Emerald, my brother's girlfriend, shook my body.

"Ugh Em, don't you have a boyfriend to bug or something. Leave me." I groaned, trying to pull my covers back on.

"Come on Lerato we have to go to that ball. This is Tumi's first project for the hospital." She pleaded―No, she demanded.

Can't a girl get some rest around here.

"Guilt trip me all you want Em, I'm still not going." I yawned, digging my head deeper into the plush pillow.

"Come on Lerato. We are going to be late." she said. I could feel her body hovering over my limp form.

"My dress has not arrived yet and you know we don't wear the same size." I tried to explain.

I was insanely loyal to my designer back home. She always made me the most beautiful dresses. She knew what I liked and every outfit she made was always a beautiful surprise.

It is no surprise that she made me yet another dress and shipped it to me but my package got delayed for some reason and by the time I found out it was too late to go shopping so it's just my bed and I tonight.

I heard her sigh before she walked out of my room. I let out a breath of relief and relaxed into the plush bed. Tumi would understand.

Tumi was long gone as the leader of the project he had to forsee that everything ran smoothly.

Emerald and I were going for moral support but I guess I'll stick to spiritually supporting him.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

I groggily woke up to the loud knock on the door. It was truly a miracle that I actually heard the knock since I was a heavy sleeper. I literally can not hear anything in my sleep.

I walked out my bedroom and opened the front door. A man stood awkwardly by the door holding a brown box and a clipboard.

I rubbed my eyes awake not caring that I looked like an utter mess in front of the man.

"Can I help you?" I asked, leaning against the door.

"I have a delivery for-" he stopped to read the name on his clipboard, "Miss Candice Moloi." He finished and I winced.
