Will POV
Will looked up at the ship towering over him. It was okay for the others, they had all done this before. Even Nico, who hadn't been one of the seven spent some time on the Argo II.
"Hey," a voice over his shoulder said, "It's not as bad as you think." Will turned to see Nico stood behind him.
"Easy for you to say, you've been on quests before, heck you were even part of the last big quest for a bit. Me, I've never done anything like this, I'm no good at fighting and, well I feel like I am going to be a bit of a spare part..." he trailed off, looking down at Nico's feet. When he raised his eye back to Nico's face, he found him looking back at him with one eyebrow raised. "Sorry, I-"
"No reason to apologise, first quest is scary for anyone, but Chiron wouldn't have chosen you if he didn't think you could be useful." Nico squeezed his shoulder, "Good Luck Solace." And he left to board the ship.
As Will watched him go, he kind of wished he hadn't. He enjoyed spending time with Nico and, out of everyone on the ship, he was the one he knew best. Will sighed and, picking up his bags, he boarded himself.

Soon after, once the ship had set sail, they convened in the dining room.
"So," Annabeth explained, "there are 3 groups, me, Percy and Nico, Jason, Piper and Will and Leo, Frank and Hazel. One group is on deck on watch at all times..."
She finished explaining and we decided that Percy, Annabeth and Nico would take the first watch since we were going by sea to begin with. Jason suggested the rest of us get some sleep seen as preparations had taken nearly a full day and it was beginning to draw late, and with that, the three on duty left and the rest slowly made their way to their rooms.

A few hours later, Will woke to the sounds of banding and clashing from above- their first monster attack. Grabbing his bow and medical kit, Will rushed up to help. He wasn't the best archer, especially compared to his siblings, but he was better at that than swordplay.
As he emerged onto deck, he was greeted with the sight of hundreds of Stymphalian Birds. He hadn't seen so many in one place since they invaded camp when Thalia's tree was poisoned. He drew his bow and began shooting arrows at the birds who exploded into dust. All the demigods were on deck now, getting torn at by the flesh eating birds, all slashing or shooting desperately at them. Suddenly there was a shout
"Get down." It was so forceful it must have been Piper, as Will looked round, he noticed all the other demigods had dropped to the floor as well, except two.
Percy and Jason stood, swords crossed, summoning the sea and the air to do their bidding, and preventing the birds from reaching them all. They were incredible. Will had seen them both use their powers before but never combining them like this. The effect of this was huge, unfortunately, this also meant they wouldn't be able to continue this forever- Will could already see they were beginning to tire.
Suddenly, an idea came to him. When they fought the birds at camp, they used music to scare them off. He crawled over to Leo who was laid near him.
"Radio?" He shouted.
"What?"
"We need a radio! Music scares them off!"
"You're an Apollo kid, can't you just sing?"
"Not over this!"
Leo began to dig in his tool belt and pulled out a small travel radio. After a bit of fiddling, it began to play the most awful music Will had ever heard, and just in time too, as Percy and Jason collapsed to the floor in exhaustion.
As Will thought it would, the music frightened the birds and, within seconds, they could no longer be seen. Once this happened, Leo switched the radio off.
Bewildered, the demigods sat for a moment on the deck of the ship. You can't relax for long as a demigod, so soon they rose, Will began treating the sick and the others clearing up the remains of the battle. Just an ordinary day for a demigod.
