Something Strange

Harry POV
It was a few months since the incident in the library and not much had happened. Our transformation preparation was going well. Really well. In fact, all we were waiting for now was the lightning storm, which was due to happen in the next few days.
We hadn't had much to do with the Americans either, I mean, we spoke to them, but they weren't acting suspicious, or at least no more suspicious than they had acted at first...

It was Tuesday morning when I noticed something strange. Well- everyone did- it was hard not to.
We were doing a lesson on unicorns, as Hagrid proudly announced, gesturing towards the creatures who were relaxing in a pen.
There were 7 in the large pen, most of them pure white, though two were silver and one was pure gold. I wasn't overly keen on unicorn lessons - I had never managed to touch one (they tend to prefer witched over wizards).
We were split into groups to read through or learn about different parts of unicorn care, going up one group at a time to try and touch the unicorns.
Our group was made up of five- me, Ginny and three of the Americans: Annabeth, Hazel and Percy. We were last to try touching the unicorns. I went first. Predictably, they wouldn't come near me, though the little gold one did before, giving a snort and galloping off. I heard Percy chuckle at this. Annabeth elbowed him but he whispered something in her ear and she too chuckled. Fine, I'd like to see him do any better.
Ginny was fairly successful, they let her stroke the tip of their noses. Annabeth faced very much the same reaction.
They did seem to like Hazel though. One of them even rubbed the side of their face on her hand. I looked over at Hagrid who stood with his eyebrows raised slightly.
"That's bes' reaction I've seen." He told us. Then turned to Percy who was having some sort of hushed conversation with Annabeth, "yer turn now lad. They may be a bit wary, yeh bein' a wizard an' all."
He looked at Annabeth, who nudged him. "Go on," she said. Percy looked nervous, shooting her a slightly pained glance.
Was he scared of unicorns? I thought. Surely not, though I suppose some of the stuff we'd read today was enough to make anyone nervous.

I couldn't have been more wrong. As he approached the pen, the unicorns made their way towards him- the opposite of their reaction to any of the other wizards (especially that Nico kid, they couldn't wait to get as far as possible from him, though I don't blame them, that kids creepy). Each of them bowed their heads to him before resting their chins on his outstretched hand, letting him stroke their faces and necks.
The class let out a collective gasp. The unicorns were almost jostling for his attention, especially the foal who pushed its way to the front, trying to place its head on Percy's hand.
He lowered his hand so it could reach and gently scratched its withers, which it seemed to enjoy.
He was very calm with them and definitely not scared- like I had first thought. He stood there by the fence while the rest of us looked on in astonishment- all work forgotten.
"Well ah ne'er." Hagrid whispered under his breath.
As I looked around, in fact, I realised the only people not in absolute shock were the Americans.
I exchanged a look with Ginny- as soon as we had completed our animagi transformations, we would find out what was going on here- because it was definitely something strange.
