Lucy POV

Natsu took me out of the guild and straight into town. And just like that, we spent some time walking through the different streets of Magnolia... Though more than walking alongside each other, it was more him dragging me along by force to be honest.

In any case, wherever you see it, this turned out to be quite unexpected. After all, I genuinely thought that this... mating season... was supposed to turn him into a lustful beast full of lewd and pervy desires, like touching me... and handling me... however he wanted... Oh jeez... I can't help but to get all flustered at the thought of that happening.

But in the end... all he wanted was a date? Really?

I've never had an actual date to be honest. The closest I ever got to something of that sort was when I happened to meet this guy who Cana claimed to be my 'fateful encounter'. Of course she was wrong, because I never got to see that guy ever again in my life.

Anyway, if it was just a date what Natsu wanted, then that didn't really sound so bad after all... Yeah! A date! I should be able to handle something like that! After all, It's just a simple date... with Natsu...

...

...

...

Wait! A date?! WITH NATSU?!

At that moment, I felt my cheeks turning pink and my head spinning while imagining what a date with Natsu would be like... And the truth is, it wasn't really a nice picture by any means...

Natsu kept on pulling me through the city a little longer, until suddenly... he stopped on his tracks right in front of a building... Presumably the place he had been looking for this whole time. "This is it" he finally claimed while still holding my hand and with a grin, after which I finally noticed what was the place in which we were.

"A... cafe?" I asked, slightly confused.

"Yeah, come on! Let's go eat something!" Natsu replied, happily, after which we both headed inside and took a seat at one of the many available tables.

Something was... off... Natsu wasn't acting like himself at all, he was a lot less noisier... more well-mannered and... unusually calm. What is more, I noticed him looking at me with a soft grin from time to time, all while leaning his head on one hand and giving off some really disturbingly positive vibes.

"Wh-what is it?" I asked nervously after noticing him staring at me for the 10th time.

"Oh, nothing... It's just... you look really cute today" he replied with a smile, to which I couldn't help but to immediately blush from embarrassment.

Just... why did he say something like that?! Why was he acting so unusually nice?! I mean... it's not like Natsu had never been nice to me. In fact, he's my best friend... But still, this was the first time he actually called me 'cute'!

"What's wrong, Lucy? Your face is all red" he added with an innocent expression.

"I-it's nothing"

I don't know exactly why, but at that moment, some weird feeling started to take me over. And I really didn't know what it was! All I knew was that I had to find a way to distract myself, even if just a bit.

At any rate, both Natsu and I ended up ordering something to eat just as any normal person would do in a cafe, but neither of us said a single word for a very long time. That idiot just kept on looking at me with a small grin while eating his food... and I was just staring at mine, nervously, and without even touching it, trying to avoid eye contact at any cost.
