Hannah and Ashton were sitting in the car on their way to school. It seemed like forever ago Ashton gave Hannah a ride but in fact it was just a couple days ago.
They were listening to Nothing Personal as usual and right now Sick Little Games were blasting out in the car. Ashton wasn't singing along as he usually did and it kind if bothered Hannah. She didn't know if anything was wrong with Ashton but she was starting to think something different was going on. It was probably something about him and Kiki that he hadn't told her. Hannah wanted her brother to be happy no matter what but she decided not to ask him anything right now. She figured she could just do it later.
Ashton drove up to Hannah's school and stopped in front of the entrance. Hannah started to get out of the car but Ashton grabbed her arm and pulled her back in.
"Be careful with that Michael dude. I don't want you to end up hurt, okay?"
Hannah scoffed. Michael wasn't going to hurt her. She knew what she was doing, or, at least she thought she knew what she was doing. "I'm not gonna get hurt, Ash. And Michael and I aren't even a thing, we're just friends right now."
"Just, be careful." Ashton bit his lip and let go of Hannah's arm so she could get out of the car.
"I will. See you later," she mumbled and finally got out of the car.
As Hannah walked over the courtyard towards the school entrance she could feel eyes on her. She didn't know who was looking at her but she knew that someone or several people was. She chose to ignore it and just walked into the school building.
Her locker was right next to her first class and since it was a while left until geography was starting, she sat down and started watching YouTube videos.
Hannah was about to enjoy the high notes Alex Gaskarth could take when someone stole her earbuds from her.
"You dyed your hair black?!" Kira shouted way too loudly, way too close to Hannah's face.
"It was already black, I just dyed the rest of it and ouch," Hannah said and rubbed her ears in pain. "Why did you have to yell like that?"
Kira just shrugged and held out a hand to help Hannah get up. They walked into class together and Hannah immediatley saw Michael in the back corner. He was wearing a red flannel and a snapback was on his head. It looked really good on him. He was leaned back in his chair and had his arms crossed over his chest. She watched him as she made her way over there. Kira sat down in front of him while Hannah dropped down next to Michael.
"Wait, where's Asha? She's supposed to sit next to me, I can't sit alone," Kira said and turned around to face Hannah. Hannah had completely forgotten about Asha which she didn't even understand. How does one simply forget about one of her best friends?
"I-I don't know," Hannah shrugged. "I haven't talked to her since friday."
"I'll just call her and ask," Kira said and turned back to her phone.
Michael was just staring out of the window. Hannah didn't even know if he had noticed them. He just looked so peaceful and she didn't really want to disturb him but she also really wanted to talk to him.
"Hi." Hannah poked his shoulder to make him turn to her. He snapped his head to Hannah and she jumped. She wasn't prepared for him to get so scared just of a poke.
"Fuck, you scared me. I didn't even notice you coming in," Michael said and rested his head on the desk he was sitting at. He looked really cute as he smiled and his cheeks got pressed against the table.
"What were you thinking about that had you all serious, looking out the window and all?" Hannah asked as she put her chin in her hand. The smile on Michael's face dropped and Hannah could sense that it wasn't a topic he wanted to discuss.
