"We are each our own devil and we make this world our hell..."
-Oscar Wilde.

The metronome swung from side to side counting minim beats... it's count having a calming effect on doctor Watson who was looking down at the report file on his desk. He had spent twelve years on this; twelve years of trying to understand the shadowed personality behind his subject; a patient who was now almost 20 years of age. Almost  an adult now but nevertheless still a child.

The doctor sighed, expecting Hyukjae to turn up at Wisdom Institute twice a week could be labeled as one of the most tedious tasks in the his life. Eventually the door opened; a dark haired boy in an oversized white shirt and a light blue rough denim trouser walked in.

Watson began to analyze him from the moment he stepped inside the room. His fists were clenched and rigid indicating that he was hostile to any friendly approach, and his eyes were wide and unblinking; showing uncertainty and a slight degree of arrogance. Watson took off his spectacles and started cleaning them with a tissue,
just two days ago this child was fine...what now?, he sighed again and indicated for the boy to take a seat. Hyukjae didn't sit down immediately; he glanced at the doctor and slowly approached, then; without taking his eyes off the ticking metronome, he sat down rigidly and continued to stare at it as if he was irritated by it's mere existence.

"How are you feeling today Eunhyuk?", asked the doctor pleasantly, taking care to use Hyukjae's nickname to address him. "would you like to describe how you are feeling right now?", he prompted without really expecting a reply. But to his surprise Eunhyuk looked up.

"Do you really wanna know doc?", he asked, lazily turning his head towards the report that was still lying on the table, "coz I have a feeling that you won't like it", and smirked.

The doctor; mentally thanking for the twelve year experience with his young subject, decided to change his approach. "Fine then, how is your mother? is she well?", he asked.

"yes", came the short arrogant reply, and Watson didn't bother asking about the father since their father-son relationship was almost nonexistent.

"Hyukjae", said the doctor slowly, "you can't go on behaving like this in front of your parents for the rest of your life"

Eunhyuk turned back sharply ,"I don't owe anyone ANYTHING!", he yelled , "especially not them! mom thinks I'm some kind of drug addict trying to suicide! and my dad...",he gulped and tried not to look at the doctor, "I--I don't want to talk about him", he said weakly as tears sprang into his eyes.

Doctor Watson watched him; this suffering boy, who was constantly misunderstood by his parents and peers for his arrogance. The doctor knew that this behaviour of hyukjae's was like a morning mist, inside he was absolutely sensitive, and on top of that, he was very affectionate. But the catch was that Eunhyuk never showed these qualities outwardly to anyone; not even to his friends; this had made him a hard person to be liked, and according to Eunhuk's mother, he had always got in to fights with others because of his recklessness.

It had taken the doctor almost 10 years to gradually figure out Eunhyuk's actual hidden behaviour; so when he saw this dark haired boy almost in tears, it touched his heart and he felt a deep feeling of protectiveness towards the boy.

Wordlessly Watson gave him a tissue and Eunhyuk clenched it in his hand. Then suddenly he began to wipe his eyes furiously.

"Actually", said the doctor in a soothing voice, "I think you owe something for your mother"

Hyukjae stared at him, "what?", he asked incredulously.

"If it wasn't for her, you wouldn't have been able to attend to the dancing university. She knows that it's your passion and she wants you to shine Eunhyuk, where do you think that you would've ended up if she didn't persuade your farther to let you take the entrance exam?" asked the doctor reasonably.
