Birthday Boy

Daniel felt happy that it was his 19th birthday. His mother kissed him all over his face before looking at his 'baby browns' telling him to stop growing up so fast. He tells her, "I'm gonna have to grow up some day ma" she wipes a tear from her eye and kisses his cheeks before he tells her how he's off to Mr. Miyagi's place. She told him okay as he left out of the apartment building whistling to himself before he sees Johnny with a bag that says "Happy Birthday" on it.

He didn't know what he wanted as the last time he had seen Johnny was the day of the tournament and he even congratulated Daniel in the end. Johnny coughed his throat before speaking, "I know we had a very rough start, but that doesn't mean we can't start over. I am sorry for all the trouble I caused you Daniel as I'm sure you want me out of your hair so here" he hands Daniel the present as he slowly takes it.

Johnny looks down walking away before Daniel calls out to him, "Johnny wait!" He stopped his tracks as Daniel asked if he wanted to come over to Mr. Miyagi's as he's going over there. Johnny nicely declined and told him to have a nice birthday before leaving. Daniel felt a little bad since he sees that Johnny isn't that bad except his old sensei, Kreese. He gets in his car and drives over to Mr. Miyagi's place as he sees balloons on the fence before entering. He sees Ali, his mom, bobby, freddy, a couple of Ali's friends, a few of daniel's friends and Mr. Miyagi himself as he was happy to spend the day with people he was knew or close with.

The party was a little loud, but everyone was having a good time. He walks to Ali telling her, "Hey Johnny came by earlier and gave me a present" she smiled as she was dancing to the music.

"Yea I told him it was your birthday since he wanted to apologize to you. He is sorry as he's been beating himself up about what happened between you two" she says before taking the present to the table with other presents. Daniel wished Johnny wasn't hard on himself as it wasn't his fault that he was blindly brainwashed by Kreese. He serves himself some nachos before coming back asking Ali, "You wanna go get him?" She shrugged saying the more the merrier.

He grabbed his keys and let his mom know that they'll be back as she told them to be careful. They ride around for a bit before they found him at the beach sitting on the sand. They walk towards him slowly as they can hear him crying to himself before Ali calls out to him, "Johnny?" He had his head down and sniffed before wiping his tears away not facing them.

"How's the party?" He asked as they told him that it's great, but they wanted to invite him. He asked why before Daniel sat down next to him, "Johnny I don't mind if you come over to my party as the more the merrier right?" Ali nodded. He told Daniel, "I don't know, I felt like I guilt tripped you into inviting me" Ali sat on the other side of Johnny telling him, "We know you're sorry Johnny as you can't let the past haunt you forever. We also know that you can change as I know there's still that sweet Johnny Lawrence inside, he just has to come out" Johnny didn't say anything. They waited for him to say anything, but he just kept looking at the water or playing with a seashell.

Ali told Daniel how she'll wait in the car as he said okay before facing Johnny, "I'll save you a piece of cake if you change your mind. I'll see you Johnny" He says before he gets up dusting himself off and walked back to his car. Ali asked Daniel, "Do you think he'll be okay?" He looks back at Johnny before getting inside, "I hope so" he starts the car and they came back to the party.

It was time for cake as everyone sings "Happy birthday" to him before he makes a wish and blows out the candles. Everyone gets a slice then Daniel sets one out to the side as his mother asked, "Is anyone else coming sweetheart?" He told her that it's for a friend who might come a little late. She said okay before going to the table to sit down and eat her slice.

The party was over and everyone helped cleaned up before leaving as Daniel thanks them for coming by. He thanks Mr. Miyagi and his mom for putting the party together before they told him how it's only right before he goes back to college spring semester. He puts the presents in his car before seeing Johnny's reflection, he turns around and sees him standing slightly behind the fence,

"I guess the party's over" Johnny says with his hands in his pockets

Daniel told him how he did save him a piece like he said he will. He left and came back giving Johnny the plate, "I hope you like chocolate" Daniel says as he sits on the hood of his car. Johnny chuckled, "Of course I like chocolate as it's better than Vanilla" they laughed before talking about going on a motorbike track next Saturday. It started to get late as Johnny gets on his motorbike.

"Oh Happy birthday Daniel" Johnny says before he left.
