i walked in silence towards the spot i used to go to. i stopped after a certain incident, yes, but it changed after we made up.
there were no cars anywhere, as expected. it was three in the morning, who would be up driving at three in the morning?
the air was chilly, despite me wearing a jacket, but i didn't care. what was i gonna do? get mad, make the weather apologize, and walk away? yeah, not possible.
i had finally reached where i wanted to be, and went to the side of the tree where everything was most visible.
someone was already sitting there. they didn't seem to notice.
i stared at them for awhile before sitting down next to them, leaning against the tree.
"couldn't sleep?" i asked, resulting in a small jump from him.
"why are you here?" ryan mumbled.
"i couldn't sleep. figured i could get fresh air like the good old days," i responded. ryan stayed silent for some time before moving to get up.
"wait, can we talk?"
ryan didn't even bother to look my way. no noise came from him as he began to leave. i called out his name once more, but nothing came out of it.
ryan left faster than i even realized he was up here.
i swallowed numbly and leaned my head back, looking up into nothing.
a place that used to be filled with happy memories turned into nothing. no more climbing the tree. no more him and i. no more kisses. just regret.
i sighed and closed my eyes, not wanting to think of any of this.
