ACT ONE
EXT. THE MOUNTAIN - MORNING
The Masterhand energy that overcame the group at the end of 101 shoots them up into the sky.
EXT. ABOVE MUSHROOM KINGDOM - CONTINUOUS
They don't go directly up. They arc across the entire land and head off to certain destinations.
Mario looks at this and spots Peach. He reaches out to her, but can't make it. She splits away and heads to the Ice Land.
Mario soars along and gets a look at some landmarks like Mario Kart Stadium and Flower Fields.
He clues in to the desert area he approaches. Another person joins his side soaring along: Link.
They're right on target for a classic green pipe with a piranha plant popping out. They gear up to attack it.
It retracts just at the right time. They soar down this dark tunnel and head deep underground.
INT. KERO SEWERS - CONTINUOUS
They land hard in the large, wet, dark, and revamped beginning of the Mario sewer levels.
Link gets up before the slower Mario. He walks over and offers a hand to for him to take.
MARIO
We're not there yet, Link.
Mario gets up on his own and examines his setting.
MARIO
We probably won't ever be there. I wouldn't worry about it.
Three larger than normal goombas pop out and head to them.
MARIO
I would be worried about these goombas though. They've gotten bigger since I was last here.
Mario and Link are about to attack until Fox lands behind them and shoots the enemies.
They whimper and scurry away. He wears a coy smirk.
MARIO
Congratulations: you have a gun that shoots straight lines of fire.
FOX
Straight lines of...? You mean laser? The blaster shoots lasers.
MARIO
You sound even stupider now then you did back at the mountain.
FOX
Look, Mario was it? I think we got off on the wrong foot.
MARIO
You're right: I should have put my foot up your butt.
Link rolls his eyes and turns to notes something nearby.
FOX
Never mind. I guess we got off on exactly the right foot.
MARIO
You and your friend had no right to break up our fights.
FOX
Falco and I did that so we could figure out what's going on. And turns out there's a giant hand playing with us like puppets.
MARIO
And I'll slap him right after he's done slapping some sense into you.
FOX
Cool, how about we just focus on getting out of this place?
MARIO
Don't expect me to save you.
FOX
Definitely not holding out on it. Link, what do you...?
They turn to Link gearing up for emerging goombas, koopas, and other larger enemies. Mario and Fox gear up too.
FOX
Well I'm glad someone's keeping an eye out for us.
Mario, Link, and Fox attack the enemies...but not as a group.
Like Mario said: they're not there yet. The three are far apart as they show off their unique fighting styles.
Mario watches the two others do work. Link is nimble and precise with his sword swipes and shield pounds.
Fox uses a combination of laser blasts, deflector shields, high kicks, and quick melee punches to keep his space.
The two have so much more skill than Mario's reckless punches and fire blasts. This realization catches him off guard.
He's hit down by a pesky goomba while on this thought. He fights to get it off before a laser does the trick.
Mario flares his nostrils at Fox, who shakes his head. The three keep fighting on their own. A new wave approaches.
Fox eyes the big group coming, but also hears an approaching yell from above: ffffffaaaalllLLLCCCCCOOOONNNNN...PUNCH!
Captain Falcon lands through the tunnel with a huge impact on the ground. He has great form on his adjusted game move.
This ground punch shoots off the energy in all directions. It annihilates the wave and sends Mario/Fox/Link back.
The three recover, get up, and stare at Captain in awe.
MARIO
Did you just say Falcon Punch?
CAPTAIN
I don't have to answer you.
FOX
Well we appreciate it, Captain. We were just about to head out...
Captain walks past the three deeper into the tunnel. They hesitate before following along.
MARIO
Wait up, hot shot. You don't even know the way out.
CAPTAIN
I don't care for your assistance.
MARIO
A man after my own heart.
FOX
Can you actually get us out of here, Mario...without being a sad and scared jerk about it?
MARIO
Only if you take a hint from Link and shut up.
FOX
Well this is going to be a fun trip. Where are we even going?
EXT. TOAD TOWN GATES - MORNING
Roads from the desert and ice worlds lead to the huge gates of TOAD TOWN: a big, oceanside civilization with tall walls.
