ACT ONE

EXT. SPACE - NIGHT
The COMET OBSERVATORY smoothly glides through space.

INT. ROSALINA'S ROOM - NIGHT
ROSALINA and LUMA sit on her bed in this brightly coloured and cartoony room. It's completely quiet in here.

They delicately hold and read a storybook together.

Her soft and glistening eyes are locked into it as space zooms by outside the window. Luma cuddles her.

She delicately puts her hand on one of the pages, then:

KER-CHUNK! Her room takes a bump and a bad-engine sound comes from outside. She snaps out of it and puts the book down.

She gets up, heads to the door, and stops in front. She takes a deep breath, sucks up the sadness, and puts on a smile.

Rosalina and Luma exit out the door in a jolly mood.

INT. COMET OBSERVATORY - CONTINUOUS
Rosalina glides through the cartoonish and bright space. It's homey but mixed with spaceship technology.

There are also dozens of lumas scattering around in a panic.

ROSALINA
Relax my lumas!

Rosalina gets to a big reactor and fuel gauge that sits near empty. She doesn't notice slight hints of Masterhand energy fade away.

The ship/home takes another bump. The lumas panic.

ROSALINA
Not to worry my beautiful babies. We simply need to recharge our glorious Comet Observatory. A few days in the lovely and nearby Mushroom Kingdom should have us back traveling the stars and adventuring in no time at all.

The lumas squeak in celebration. Rosalina smiles at them as she plugs in coordinates to the dashboard. The ship turns.

The lumas get to work on maintaining the ship.

Rosalina smiles and laughs as she glides back to her room.

INT. ROSALINA'S ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Rosalina loses the jolly smile as soon as Luma closes the door for them. It goes completely quiet once again.

She sits down and gets back to reading her storybook. Luma cuddles up and turns to the next page.

This page ha pictures of KID ROSALINA with MAMA and PAPA at a countryside cottage. A tear falls onto it.

EXT. GOLDEN PLAINS - AFTERNOON
Bowser and Junior stand close and stare up. They smirk.

Mewtwo stares down at them from the end of 107.

Ganondorf growls as MK slowly puts a hand on him to chill. DK trembles. Daisy is the only one to notice him.

Mewtwo looks around, past a stern Mario and Peach, a shaking Luigi, and stop on a smiling Yoshi.

YOSHI
Yoshi!

He perks up a bit at him, but loses this as he drifts to Ganondorf being held back by MK.

He finally turns back to and focuses on Junior and Bowser. He slowly floats down as they approach. It's calm.

MEWTWO
I was searching for you two.

DK holds in a growl and a yelp at the use of telepathy. Daisy tries to comfort and hold him down.

DAISY
What's your problem, big guy?

DK
Unnatural ability...like Boo...

BOWSER
Any reason you were looking for us in particular?

MEWTWO
You seem less pathetic and worthless than the rest.

Mewtwo looks at the others, but lingers on Ganondorf.

JUNIOR
Well we're trying to make them less pathetic and worthless.

MARIO
Oh shut up, runt.

BOWSER
Hey!

Bowser and Mario share a fiery look. Mewtwo catches it.

PEACH
Well we're fighting some people who are even more pathetic and worthless than us...and we could sure use the help.

Peach steps up to Mewtwo. He turns to her. She gulps.

PEACH
I'm Peach. You've already met Bowser and Junior, I guess, and here we have Mario, Daisy, DK-

MEWTWO
I already know your names and I do not care for them.

DK growls and holds in the rage.

MEWTWO
That Monkezuma seems unwell.

PEACH
What? I thought you said you knew his...don't worry about him, just worry about the war that's coming.

MEWTWO
Those you fight just attacked me.

PEACH
Well that would put you on our side then, right? You're fighting for the Mushroom Kingdom now.

MEWTWO
Why would I possibly care enough about your home to fight for it?

BOWSER
Because it has potential to be a place where everyone can be treated as equals.

Mewtwo looks to Bowser/Junior and sits on this. Mario groans.

MARIO
Okay if we're actually going to work together, you koopas have to stop yammering about this equality nonsense. It's not even an issue.

JUNIOR
Yes it is! Koopa village has been-

MARIO
I swear I told the runt to shut up.

BOWSER
That's enough!

Mewtwo quickly raises his hand and has Mario suspended up.

PEACH
Hey! Let him go!

Peach and DK get ready to fight. Luigi/Daisy are just tense.

MEWTWO
(to Bowser and Junior)
Would you like me to eliminate this nuisance for you two?

BOWSER
No Mewtwo let him-

Peach blasts Mewtwo with her umbrella wind. He's knocked off balance and drops Mario out of the energy.

He blasts her down as a counter and is about to follow up, but is pounced on by DK instead. The giant ape actually has him pinned with vicious attacks.

Luigi rushes to help the weak Mario up. He rejects the aid and weakly stands on his own. Daisy scoffs at this.

She runs away and helps Peach up. They watch DK still wail as Bowser gets to him. The big guy slowly pulls the big guy off.

Mewtwo blasts them both back. He floats up with anger and energy in his eyes at the group...

And gets tackled by Ganondorf. He also gets Mewtwo down and gets a few hits in before he's blasted back.

META KNIGHT
Come on dude!

MK sweeps in to try to restrain Ganondorf. Yoshi's tongue comes in to help him. Junior holds his leg too.

Mewtwo floats up and stares at the others restrained:

Bowser holds back DK, Daisy holds back Peach, and Luigi holds back Mario. Mewtwo shakes his head.

MEWTWO
What I knew to be true still stands: there is no place for me in this or any worlds.

JUNIOR
Mewtwo wait this was just a-

Mewtwo zooms away and the restraints come off.

DK and Ganondorf are the only ones to still charge in the direction he went as the others just chill in their spot.

The two stop once he's out of sight and share a look.

DAISY
Way to play that one cool, everyone! Great performances all around by this squad.

PEACH
He attacked Mario.

BOWSER
Because Mario kept verbally assaulting my son.

MARIO
Because he was being a lil' runt.

DAISY
And don't think we didn't notice you sneak a punch or two in there, Ganondork.

GANONDORF
You call me that again and I will sneak more attacks your way.

LUIGI
I'll roast you before that happens.

GANONDORF
Even in your wildest dreams you still lose to me, green one. And forgive me if I was simply following the giant primeape's lead.

DK
Mewtwo hold unnatural ability like boos that will-

YOSHI
YOSHI!

Yoshi's loud cry gets their attention and calms them down.

Crack! Their attention is directed above to The Comet Observatory entering the atmosphere and heading down.

They watch it land far off into the distance beyond eyesight.

META KNIGHT
And of course the hand thinks now's the perfect time to bring in another person. Just another name for me to forget if you ask-

PEACH
Masterhand didn't do that.

DAISY
That's Rosalina's ship. She's a friend of ours who pops by once in a blue power moon.

PEACH
Imagine having her, her army of lumas, and the Comet Observatory on our side. We have to go get her before the others do.

BOWSER
No, what we have to do is go get Mewtwo and convince him to join back with us.

DK and Ganondorf both growl.

PEACH
Mewtwo said he was just attacked by the others, which means they're probably close by and could be on their way to Rosalina's ship too.

JUNIOR
By that logic, they could be on their way to get Mewtwo as well.

BOWSER
If we don't have Mewtwo on our team, he will tear us apart. We've seen what he can do.

Peach stares at Bowser, looks around at the group they have with them, and ponders.

PEACH
We'll divide and conquer. Daisy and I know Rosalina the best so we'll go convince her to join us.

DAISY
To be fair, Rosalina's the nicest person in the world, so she'd help if anyone asked.

PEACH
We'll need some people to stay back and contain DK and Ganondorf too.

GANONDORF
Excuse me?

PEACH
We're going to get Mewtwo whether you like it or not, and I really don't trust either of you to not go after him and try to beat him up.

DK
He unnatural freaky being!

GANONDORF
He thinks he's more powerful than me. I need to assert my-

PEACH
Don't care. Bowser, Junior, and Yoshi: you three stay back to make sure they don't do anything stupid.

JUNIOR
Wait, that means-

PEACH
Mario, Luigi, and Meta Knight will go and bring Mewtwo back.

BOWSER
You can't be serious. Mario's the one he was going to kill for Junior and I. Why don't we go?

PEACH
Because you're as big as DK and can actually hold him down.

DK
(mumbles)
Donkey Kong cannot be held down.

BOWSER
Then at least sub out Mario for Junior. Him and Mewtwo have a connection that he-

MARIO
I'm not hanging with Bowser.

BOWSER
Then at least sub out Mario for Daisy! She already said it doesn't matter who goes to Rosalina.

LUIGI
Hey that means Daisy and I can hang out while Mario and Peach go-

PEACH
BOWSER: this is the way we're doing it. You're lucky I'm even listening to you at all right now.

BOWSER
You know sending Mario to Mewtwo is a mistake. Look past your mistrust in the koopas, past your misguided loyalty to your fiery partner, and see that he will ruin this.

Luigi holds Mario back again from attacking Bowser.

PEACH
Let's head out.

Peach and Daisy head to where the Comet Observatory landed while Mario, Luigi, and MK head the way Mewtwo went.

META KNIGHT
I don't care what anyone says, I'm excited to work with you two lovable oafs as we search for a superpowered mutant that could have literally flown anywhere.

EXT. OUTSIDE SLIDE LIFT TOWER - LATER
Mewtwo zooms through the plains at lighting fast speed.

The hilly terrain slowly transitions into the flat dessert that Fox's group was in, but Mewtwo doesn't notice.

His eyes glisten. He builds with sadness until he stops.

He lets out a yell and some energy. It's a release for him.

Mewtwo simmers. He hears the nearby sounds of whimpers.

He turns and floats to an injured goomba. Some of Mewtwo's energy sparks off it. He hurt it.

MEWTWO
I didn't even see you...but I still hurt you. If everything in the world is weak and pathetic compared to me...then I must be a monster with no home. Why stop pretending I am anything else?
