Danganronpa: Sunken Despair - Free Time Events

Kai Natsuki Free Time Event (3/5)

As a way to help make Kai feel better, I invited him to the library. Well...more accurately, I had Yui invite him to the library, as it's obvious to everyone (except Yui) how he feels towards her. It didn't take long before Kai entered, though his eyes widened with surprise as he saw me instead.

"Haru? What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I had Yui invite you here so I could surprise you," I responded, smiling.

"You can't have others help with toying a man's heart like that!" he groaned.  "Looking back though...maybe I should've read the message more carefully" he laughed. "So what's this surprise?"

"I remember you telling me how you wanted to be a teacher, teaching different cultures and languages, right?" I asked.

"Uh...yeah? Why?"

"Well...what if I help with your wish by being your first student?" I offered.

"F-for real?" he asked, unsure how to process this.

"I mean, even if it's not how you exactly envisioned, I figured I'd offer a hand for you...considering how bummed out you were last time..."

"I-I wasn't...I mean..." I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow to him as he tried to find an excuse. He decided to give in and admit it by saying "Ok, you caught me...but why do this for me?" he asked.

"Well...we're friends, aren't we?" I asked. "Plus, figured it'd be pretty cool, learning a new language."

"Well...I guess I'd be paying you back for the codex," he smiled. "Alright then, I'll teach you a language, as best as I can!"

"Great! Any you'd recommend?" I asked.

"Hmm...well, as it's obvious, we both speak English very well.  What other common languages would fit you..."

"Well...I may have one slight request, actually, if that's ok..."

"Oh? What is it? Spanish? French? Russian? Chinese?" he asked, naming a bunch of different languages. However, I wasn't expecting his reaction when I told him my answer.

"I'm not entirely fluent with it as I tend to get English worded Manga and stuff, but any chance you could help me with my Japanese?"

The moment I said Japanese, he just stood there stunned. He almost looked like a deer facing headlights...but after a bit, he shook his head and said "Uh...you sure there's no other language you might be interested in?"

"What do you mean? Are you alright?" I asked.

"I'm fine! Yep! I mean, considering we're both native to Japan, I assumed we would've chosen a more...foreign language for you!" he nervously laughed.

"Kai...are you alright?" I asked.

"Of course! Wh-why wouldn't I be?"

"Well...even if you're the Ultimate Linguist, to me it looks like you want to avoid Japanese..." I replied.

"...You're right, and it's pretty uncool to hide stuff like that between friends," he sighed.  "But can we...can we save that for another time?  It's...an uncomfortable topic," he requested. Seeing the look in his eyes means that he's serious about this being uncomfortable to him. I nodded to him and said "Sure, take as long as you'd like. I won't force you to talk if you don't want to."

"Thanks Haru, I appreciate it...I promise I will tell you...just not right now...or at least today..." he smiled.

"No worries, as I said, take your time," I smiled back.

"I will...sorry to cancel day one of class, some teacher, huh?" he laughed, making me giggle as well.

"It's alright."

"Then again, it might as well be payback with Yui," he smirked.

"Hey, you're the one that misread her message!" I laughed.

"W-well..yeah, but-."

"Is there a way to translate simp in a different language?" I teased.

"D-dagchyeo!" he exclaimed, starting to blush hard.

"Well?" I playfully asked.

"...S-SEE YOU LATER!" he loudly responded, bolting out of the library in embarrassment. With me, however, I stayed in there, laughing to myself. "Oh this won't get old," I told myself, smiling.

Haru Notes:  In a way, I helped Kai cheer up. So technically, mission accomplished!  However, I am confused as to why he's not interested in teaching Japanese.  But if he's truly uncomfortable about the topic then I won't force him.  However, teasing him does prove to be fun.
