RiverClan

It had been a quarter moon since Mosspaw had been made a warrior apprentice of RiverClan. He had trained hard, absorbed all information he could, and enjoyed the time he had with his denmates Flutterpaw and Troutpaw, but tonight would be his first Gathering.

It was nearing dawn and Mosspaw couldn't sleep. He heaved his body up and prepared himself for a good morning pacing along with letting his mind spiral as it usually does. He stretched and made sure not to wake up Flutterpaw who was sleeping beside him yet again. Before he left the apprentices den he gazed at her lovingly then gazed at his other best friend Troutpaw. He was grateful to have such good friends like them although seeing them now made him sad since they both are supposed to have their warrior assessment today.

"Flutterpaw and Troutpaw will both easily pass," Mosspaw thought, "When they're warriors I won't get to see them as much until I become a warrior." He braced himself for the cold that would hit him as he left the apprentices den. The winter scape and sharp breeze gave him shivers down to his spine like usual. At least pacing would warm him up. Before he started back and forth he thought of his usual actions and how they just made him more anxious. "If I want to catch up to them maybe I try something new. After all like Thornscar said warriors are always looking for ways to improve themselves to be a better version of themselves for their clan." With determination Mosspaw set out for the territory.

Cats were still asleep in their dens, but it wouldn't be too long before Dappleleaf organizes the patrols for the day. He crept by the elders den though to take a pass by peak on his way out of camp. Mosspaw saw his mother Brindleface curled up almost without a care in the world and as far away from him and his father as she could be in RiverClan. "Why did I even look," Mosspaw groaned to himself. He knew thinking about his mother would only make him more upset. Brindleface told Reedstar a few days ago that she was ready to retire to the elders den. She was still prime warrior age, but Mosspaw knew she didn't want to be stuck with Willowsong... or him.
