Slowly, I make my way over to the bus stop where I had gotten off to get to Max Brenner.

It was about a 5 minute walk, but if you were fast, it would take about 2-3 minutes. Me being me, I got there in just under 3 minutes.

When turning the corner to the stop, I see a bus pulling away from the curb and join the cars on the road.

"Stop!" I shout, trying to get the drivers attention.

He continued and drove past me, leaving me standing there. To make matters worse, it started raining slightly.

What a great day it is today! (Note the sarcasm please)

Glumly, I take out my phone and tell my mum what happened.

"Hey sweetie, what do you need?"

"Nothing. Just wanted to tell you that I went to Max Brenner with Abigail and Sam and that I missed the bus home just then. So I'm now waiting another hour for the next bus."

"Aw, sorry Cherry. I would go out and pick you up, but I'm around two hours away. I will be back about eight, if not, nine. Take some more money if you like and grab some take-away food if its necessary."

"Thanks mom. See you in a few hours."

"Bye honey!"

I sigh and hang up. When I put my phone away, someone came and sat down next to me. It was a boy. Looked around my age.

"Hey." He said.

"Hi."

He faces me. "I don't know if you know me, but I'm Jed. I go to your school. Grade above you."

How does he know what grade I am? Stalker much.

"Yeah, hi."

Jed frowns. "What's up?"

"Ugh. I missed the bus so now I have to wait another hour for the next one to come around and take me to the place where I need to go." Then I slouch in the seat.

He blinks and breathes in. "That sucks."

"Tell me about it."

We stay silent for a while, just watching the cars drive past. It felt nice, actually having him by my side. Even if I didn't know him, it felt better than being alone for an hour.

Jed clears his throat. "I never caught your name."

How rude of me.

"Oh, sorry. It's Cherry."

"Cherry?"

"Yeah, most people don't believe it when they first hear it."

"I believe you."

When I look into his eyes, I smile.

"So, can I call you tree for short?"

"Tree?"

"Yeah, like a cherry tree."

I laugh a bit. "Uh, yeah sure. Nothing stopping you."

"Cool." he looks at the cars driving past. "Most people know me because of the stuff I do. Usually its bad, but its like in my blood."

"What sort of stuff?"

"Oh, like, graffitiing, breaking into abandoned warehouses, taking valuable stuff from inside and selling it."

"You seem very open about it."

"Yeah, well, I don't like hiding things. Just something I'm not very fond of doing."

Suddenly, we hear tires screeching. A car appears in front of us, with loud music pumping out the windows.

"Jed! My man, long time no see!" someone says.

Jed walks up to the car and fist bumps the driver and the person next to him.

"Hey Dan, whats up?"

"Not much dude. Want a lift?"

"Sure!" Jed opens the door and is about to step inside, before looking at me.

"Hey, Cherry. Want us to drive you home?"

It looked way to sketchy for me, but its better than waiting for the bus. Besides, what harm can it do?

"Eh, sure." I say, hoping into the car.

"Who's the girl?" Dan asks.

"I'm Cherry."

"Can we call you tree?" someone else asked.

"That's what Jed asked me, so sure."

"I'm not surprised that he asked. You know what they say, great minds think a like." He says, then we burst out laughing.

"Oh my gosh...I'm...crying!" I say between laughs, making us laugh even harder.

-

We arrive back at my place, after many laughs and stories.

"Thanks for driving me Dan."

"Ay, no problem!"

There was also Mike and Joe.

"Nice meeting you guys!"

"You too."

Jed gets out of the car.

"Um, I was wondering if you'd like to hang out this weekend?"

"Sorry. I'm going paint balling this weekend-"

"Woah, you play paint ball?"

"What's the matter? Never seen a girl play before?"

He shakes his head.

"Want to join me?"

He smiles. "Sure."

"See you at eleven?"

"I'll be there. See you later Tree!"

With that, he hops into the car and they drive off, the music now blaring again. When I walk back inside, I have a smile on my face.

Hey guys! Sorry if the ending part isn't that great. I was kinda in a rush to finish it, due to television watching.

Also, I went to a house for lunch with other kids around my age, and one of them was friends with my crush. They did say a few things about him, and we have a few things in common.

Stalker, I know. It's not my fault they said it though.
