When we were eating, the house faded into a quiet space. Kat was the first to finish. "so...do you think we should go home?"
"Do you want us to be the point of there next fight, Katrina?"
"Maybe if we just go ba-"
"No" I barked. I don't know what had gotten into me. I felt..different.
"Maybe this time it will wo-"
"Kat I said No" after I finished I went back upstairs.
I took my shirt off and rooted through my bags looking for others. broken words floated upstairs, followed by Tara's footsteps. I dropped onto the bed and buried my face in a pillow. As she walked through the door I turned over. "I don't know what to do anymore, Tt." I sighed.
She smiled at the nickname then frowned. "she was only trying to help." she stated.
"I know. I just know it won't work and someone will get hurt. again." i gestured to the swollen bruise on my forehead and my puffy lips. Tara dragged her feet across the floor and sat next to me. "it's okay, Jj. I know it's not easy, but I'm here for you, whenever."
"I know. you've said that before." I smiled at her sympathetically and hugged her.
"Thanks" I said. looking into her starry eyes.
"So. I overheard Scarlett talking about you."
Great I thought. Scarlett was my latest ex.
"Oh." I sighed. "what did she say?"
"She told me to stay away" I caught Tara's eyes off focus looking at my abs which made me uneasy. she released her bottom lip from in between her teeth and continued. "she told me you a player. fight for a girls heart then through it all away."
"It's not what it sounds like, I promise."
"Sure" she sighed and flopped back. I stood up and looked at my hair in the mirror. I ran my fingers through re creating the quiff that once stood up there.
I went and sat on the bed next to Tara and flopped back too. I turned on my side and looked at her. "tell me, Jay" she paused and looked at me, "why do you go out with so many girls?"
"It's this thing." I said. "where I don't get love at home, I guess I just." I paused and took a breath. "I guess I date them then end to hear them say "but I really loved you". the only time, until now, I actually felt loved."
she looked at me and pouted. she sat up and grabbed my hand and dragged me behind her.
We just sat there. together. I twisted my tongue piercing with my teeth.
She looked at me. I felt awkward and looked down. Tara stood up and walked to the door.
" The funny thing is." She said, hovering by the door, "she described you as a nightmare dressed like a daydream." Tara looked at me one last time and left so I could get changed and such.

Wow. I thought.
How accurate.
Maybe I am just a nightmare dressed like a daydream.
