*JAYS POV*
*time lapse to the end of the day*
So it was the end of the day and I wanted to ask Tara if she wanted to hang out but I'm not sure how. I put one foot infront of the other and walked awkwardly to the lift. I don't know why I was doing this, I was just nervous. I'd never liked a girl this much before.
I stepped into the lift and pressed the '1' button. The lift arrived in no time and soon enough I was walking down the hallway to find Tara's class. I hovered outside until the bell rang, then waited for Tara. Mu could here the teacher quite clearly, too.
My standing turned to sitting, then my sitting turned to pacing.
Why hadn't she come out yet? I thought to myself. I looked round and peeked through the door only to meet the teachers angry eyes. She opened the door, "Can I help you, Master Brooks?"
"I um er" I glanced round the glass and made eye contact with Tara. "I've come to collect Tara, miss"
"Why would that be? Brooks."
"Me Jakes assigned me to for the rest of the week, miss"
"Well, in that case, take her." she spat, "Tara, you may leave. Now."
Tara stood up and walked to the door, grabbing ghee bag from under the wooden desks. We got a little down the hallway, just around the corner from the lift. "Well she didn't like you much." I stated as we walked around the corner.
"Aha yeah." she sighed.
"Soooo which way do you walk home?" I finally asked.
"I er go down, like, this way then there and cross that" she said, making vigorous hand gestures to the way she'd turn.
"Same.....i think..." I mumbled.I swiped my card and we hopped in and went down.
We walked out the school and walked through the gates.
"Oh no" I said, seeing the people that used to be my so called 'friends'.
"What? Are you alright?" Tara asked. "er yeah let's go this way." I said, pointing to a bridge.
"Will it still get me home?"
"Er yeah" I replied, not sure if it would or not.
We took a quick diversion and started talking again.A little while after we came to a main road. "erm that way" I said, pointing to a narrower road.
Okay, I regret going down there. It was scary. there where druggies smoking illegal weed on one side, and crazy alcoholics violently being sick on the other side. me and Tara where nearly sick ourselves.
"So," I gagged. "any siblings?"
"No," she choked. "only child."
"Oh." I coughed back at her.
"How about you?" She turned around and asked.
"Yeah I have a younger sister, you might know her she's in your year."
"Oh really? What's her name?"
"Katrina, most people call her Kat though."
"Ohhhh yeah! I know her! She's in most my lessons. Kat Brooks."
"Haha yeah, that'll be her." I chuckled.
"Sooo... any other siblings?" she questioned.
I felt tears prick in my eyes.
"So you know" I whimpered.
"Kinda, you don't have to speak about it. I don't want you to feel uncomfortable or anything."
I smiled at Tara's kindness. we came out of the narrow alleyway and she gave me a hug. I didn't know what to do so I just wrapped my arms around her waist. I have to admit, I didn't want to let go. our hug was interrupted by a vibrating in Tara's pocket. she let go and flipped out her phone. "hello?" She said.
"Okay.....yahuh....alright...... bye....love you too" then she flipped down her phone.
"It was my mum." She sighed. " she wants me home asap. which way to Honeysuckle crescent?"
"How about you follow me because that's where I live" I laughed. After a while, we began to race and soon enough we where home.
And that was my successful day. I got a hug and I made a friend. not bad, Jay, not bad.
