A week had passed and Claudette was moving forward with the Nichols-Huntzberger wedding which came as a great relief to Rory. She did her best to steer clear of the office during their next appointment. She found herself sitting in the courtyard at the Plaza when her phone buzzed.'So, Claudette is handling everything now' – Logan
'Yes, its for the best' – Rory
'I was looking forward to seeing you today' – Logan
'And that's exactly why I needed to remove myself from the planning sessions' – Rory
'I get it. But it doesn't mean I have to like it. I need to see you Ace' – Logan
'I think its better if we don't' – Rory
'Are you going to Friendsgiving at Colin & Steph's' – Logan
'Yes. I will be there with Jake' – Rory
'Great. That's great' – Logan
'Something tells me you don't actually mean that' – Rory
'Oh Im really looking forward to hanging out with your boyfriend all evening' – Logan
'Well I just cant wait to see Katie so were equal' – Rory
A few moments passed and Logan hadn't responded. Good, Rory thought. Maybe he got the message and would do his best to leave her alone. A moment later her phone buzzed.
'I told Katie the truth about us' – Logan
'What? She knows everything?' – Rory
'She came back last week from your session and asked me point blank. I didn't want to lie to her' – Logan
'So she hates me' – Rory
'Yeah. Its fair to say shes not your biggest fan. She wasn't exactly happy with me either' – Logan
'Well Im glad I stepped down so I didn't have to see her' – Rory
'You always make the right moves, Ace' – Logan
'Bye Logan' – Rory
'Bye Rory. See you at brunch' – Logan
This revelation just put a new wrinkle in the upcoming Friendsgiving Brunch. Rory knew she needed to fess up to Jake. She didn't want to risk Katie letting something slip at Colin and Steph's just to spite her. That evening Rory told Jake everything. The Life and Death Brigade, working at the paper with Logan, the no strings relationship, Martha's Vineyard, the yacht, the breakup, the bridesmaids and the proposal. She knew he needed to know it all so he could decide what he wanted to do. He took it all in and finally worked up the nerve to ask her the question he had dreaded asking.
"Do you still love him?"
Rory looked at him and then looked away before answering, "I do." Jake sighed and responded, "That's why you could never say it back to me."
Rory grabbed his hands to comfort him but he pulled away. "I don't think we should see each other anymore," Jake said as he got up from the couch. Rory sat there and watched him walk away. She was alone again and Logan, the love of her life, was still engaged to marry someone else.
