When Logan got home from work on Monday night Katie was in the bathroom putting the finishing touches on her hair. "Where are you off to?" Logan asked. "Getting dinner with Stacy and Laura tonight. I mentioned it to you yesterday. I want to ask them to be bridesmaids in the wedding," Katie replied. "That's right, have fun. But you'll need to find two more bridesmaids since I'm having four guys stand up with me," Logan reminded her.
"Ugh. You know I don't like most people but I'll get two more just to make my baby happy," Katie offered. "Umm thanks. We can let Rory and Claudette know that we've got that settled," Logan said. "Yes, next week when we see them. Bye baby, don't miss me too much," Katie said smiling. "You know I will," Logan replied back to her. And with that, Katie was off and on her way to dinner with friends, or at least two girls she could mostly tolerate.
Logan sat in the quiet apartment for what felt like hours but was actually only minutes. The place didn't feel like home, mostly because the place was filled with things Katie had picked out. For a girl that prided herself on being fashionable, Logan hated almost everything she picked out for the apartment. It felt like a mini-Huntzberger mansion and that was the last place he wanted to live in.
After watching Sportscenter, Logan looked at his phone and thought about texting Rory. It wasn't a big deal. Sure they were ex's but they also shared a group of friends which by default made them friends, he tried to convince himself. With that, he shot off a text and to his surprise Rory responded quickly. They went back and forth a few times and it seemed that they just fell back in to a rhythm. Logan felt transported back 4 years ago, before the breakup, before Katie and the engagement, and before that annoying guy Jake was in the picture. Before he even realized what he had done, Logan looked at the screen of his phone and there it was. He had called Rory 'Ace'.
Maybe texting her wasn't such a good idea after all.
