The rest of the week had seemed to drag on as slowly as possible. Rory had fielded calls from just about everyone that she knew. Lorelei, Christopher, Lane, Paris, Steph, Juliet and Rosemary had each checked in with her after news of Logan's broken engagement was splashed across the front page of various newspapers. She told them all the same thing: she was fine, Logan and her were friends and there was really nothing else to say. She couldn't bear to tell them the truth: that it had now been four days since Logan stood her up. She knew if she told the truth they would either spend the next 10 minutes on the phone disparaging Logan's character and how he would never change or they would waste no time to give him a call and chew him out for not reaching out to her. She decided she didn't love either of those options so telling them that everything was good between them seemed to be a better option even though it was an outright lie.
Rory had deduced that Logan's lack of communication must indicate that he wasn't interested in pursuing anything with her. That New Year's Eve kiss was an anomaly, a stolen moment in time that they wouldn't be reliving. Deep inside that realization made her feel like her heart was breaking in two. Sure, it had been several years and a few relationships since her and Logan meant anything to each other, but having him back in her life made it so apparent that what they had before was something she likely wasn't ever going to experience again. Logan and her were nothing more than a memory, one that hopefully many years from now she would look back upon with a smile, thankful to have experienced young love at least once in her life.
She wrapped up her week at work and headed to her apartment and settled in with a book for the night. Rosemary had called her and begged her to come out for Friday night drinks but she told her she wasn't feeling well and would have to take a raincheck. In reality, she didn't want to attend in the off chance that Logan was there. He was quite literally the last person on the planet she wanted to see or speak to this evening.

Logan searched around the dimly lit bar to see if those sapphire eyes of Rory's would stare back at him. They didn't because she wasn't there. She hadn't responded to his text last Sunday nor had she reached out when the engagement news hit the news wire. He had spent the last two days at his new penthouse apartment overseeing the team of interior designers he had hired to make the place feel like a home. He was hoping tonight would be a welcome break from the monotony of moving boxes and accent walls and it would hopefully bring him face to face with Rory but so far, that was a bust. He finished up his drink and bid his friends goodbye and headed to his Penthouse to drown out the thoughts of Rory that were taking over his mind.
He sat in his living room, looking out at the panoramic view of the city and decided enough was enough, it was time that him and Rory hashed everything out.

Rory was laying on her couch, her book on her chest when her phone rang and stirred her from her sleep.
"Hello?" she said unable to hide the drowsiness in her voice.
"Ace, it's me. Do you have time to talk?" Logan asked.
"Oh, so now you want to talk. I had figured you must have been in a ditch off the turnpike or in a Costa Rican hospital or something," she said with no humor in her tone.
"I've been back in New York since late Sunday waiting for you to contact me." He said.
"Waiting for me? Are you kidding me Logan? We were supposed to meet up on Monday to talk and you ghosted me. I would have thought you had enough respect for me and my time to at least give me a heads up that you had no intention of seeing me." Rory said, clearly pissed at him.
"I texted you and told you I had to cancel and we would have to reschedule. You were the one that didn't respond, which I took as you being annoyed with me. I gave you time to cool off this week and figured I would try again now." Logan responded.
"Wow, you must think I am still that naïve 19 year old girl that would actually fall for Logan Huntzberger's lies and excuse them for his charm. I am not that girl anymore Logan." Rory replied.
"You've got it all wrong Rory, I am not – "
And before he could finish explaining things to her, Rory disconnected their call. This was going to be more difficult than he had thought.
