The weeks after the bunch found Rory in a flurry of Christmas party preparations. She was relieved to be focused on more than weddings and did her best to bring the magic of a Stars Hollow Christmas to the various parties held at the Plaza. Her contact with Logan was virtually non-existent but she knew that work obligations at HPG would keep him preoccupied and couple that with a demanding soon-to-be-bride she wasn't expecting to hear from him anyway.
Claudette had given her the day before Christmas Eve off so she used the extra time to pack for her trip to Hartford for the holiday. She had just finished up wrapping up the last few presents for her friends and family when she got a text.
'I expect things to be busy for both of us over the next few days so I wanted to wish you an early Merry Christmas' – Logan
'Merry Christmas to you too, Logan.' – Rory
'Stars Hollow?' – Logan
'Not this year. Christmas dinner will be hosted at the Gilmore's.' – Rory
'I'll be in Hartford too.' – Logan
'Maybe I will see you around' – Rory
'Do you have plans for New Year's?' – Logan
'I'm coordinating the annual Plaza New Year's Eve party this year so I'll be back in New York' – Rory
'All work and no play on New Year's? – Logan
'Not exactly. I was able to get a few invites. Colin, Steph, Finn, Rosemary, Robert and Juliet will be attending.' – Rory
'Hmm. That explains why they declined my invitation for Aspen this year.' – Logan
Rory wasn't exactly sure why she did it, but the text was sent before she could think about it.
'You should come to the Plaza. I can add you to the guest list. Katie too, of course.' – Rory
'That would be great. Count us in, Ace.' – Logan
She knew she shouldn't have done it. The last thing she wanted to see while ringing in the New Year was Logan kissing his fiancé. She realized the invitation was given with a selfish motivation, she just wanted to see him looking dapper in his tuxedo, even if that meant putting up with his obnoxious bridezilla.
