Part 14

We had been on the road for 3 days and finally arrived in New York.

"God I've missed this place" I smile as we see the skyline

It was about 10pm so it was dark, we were renting an apartment right next to the Empire State Building. We had to park the car a few street away as there was no parking near the apartment.

The take the elevator to the 87th floor, the apartment had views all over the city, I put all my stuff at the door and just look at the view in amazement for a bit, a few minutes later I feel Villanelle hug me from behind

"I can't tell what's more beautiful, you or that" she points that the view before kissing me on the cheek

"Neither" I sigh "you are more beautiful" I can see her smile in the corner of my eye

She turns me around and kisses me on the lips softly before hugging me

"Promise me this is forever" she whispers in my ear

"I promise" I smile kissing her on the neck

Later on we decide to go out for drinks at a posh bar in the city

She takes my hand in hers and holds it close to her under the table

"What's up" I smile stroking my thumb against her hand

"Nothing I just like holding your hand" she's says

"Sienna!" A man says walking over to me

I look confused for a second then say "Matteo! What are you doing in New York" I hug him

"Helping dad out with some business here, god I've missed you so much... how's your family" he smiles

"Erm I think you should sit down" I pull up a chair for him "does your dad know I'm here?"

"No er why?" He asks confused

"Matteo this is Villanelle my girlfriend, Villanelle this is Matteo my best friend until he moved to Australia"

"Nice to meet you" he says shaking Villanelles hand

"I need to know I can trust you, can I trust you?" I ask him

"Yes, yes of course" he nods

I explain the story of me and Villanelle

"Wow... shit, so she tried to kill you twice" he looks over at Villanelle

"Mhm" I reply holding up my top to show him the scars

"er I should probably head back" Villanelle says

"No baby stay" I pull her back

"I'll see you later Sienna" she kisses me on the cheek and walks off

"I don't think it's a good idea" he says as she leaves the bar

"What?"

"You and Villanelle" he sighs

"Ugh, you sound just like G" I groan

"I'm only looking out for you" he smiles taking my hand

"I know" I smile back at him

"I mean if she makes you happy then I'm not gonna stand in the way but be careful" he hugs me

"I will, I promise"

"You should probably go back but if you ever want to catch up this is my number" he slides over a piece of paper

"I will give you a call later"

I get back to our apartment and Villanelle is sat on our bed watching a movie, she doesn't even acknowledge I'm there, I sit down next to her

"I'm sorry I ruined date night" I say

"He said we were bad for each other didn't he" she says not taking her eyes off the tv

I nod "but that doesn't mean we can't be together"

"Maybe he's right... maybe we are bad for each other" she sighs

"Don't even say that" I tuck her hair behind her ear

"Baby I hurt you, twice... we are so bad for each other" she looks at me

"But I love you" I say knowing what she's saying is right but I refuse to accept it

"And I love you but I can't put you in anymore danger... you go back to Italy and I'll go back to Paris, we'll go out separate ways"

I was lost for words "but... no, I can't loose you again, it fucked me up the first time and I don't know what it'll do to me this time" I cup her face, a tear rolling down my cheek

"We'll leave tomorrow" she looks away

"So you're breaking up with me" I cry

"I'm sorry baby" she gets up and walks to the other room

I sit on the bed and cry, I take off my clothes and put on Villanelles hoodie I wear every nigh, I can't sleep without it.

It took everything not to walk into the other room right now and cuddle her but she broke up with me and I couldn't face it. I spend most of the night looking at the skyline, wishing the universe wasn't out to ruin our relationship. I roll over and shut my eyes but I can't sleep. Suddenly I feel her soft hands around my waist sliding underneath the hoodie, she didn't say a word just lay with her face in the back of my neck

"Can't sleep" I whisper

"I couldn't stop thinking about you" she kisses my neck

"Please don't leave me" I whisper desperately hugging her arm tighter

"Shushhh" she says linking our fingers

I wake up to Villanelle next to me in the same position we slept in

"I've decided I'm gonna be selfish" she says opening her eyes

"What do you mean?" I ask

"I'm not leaving, I want to be with you" she kisses me hand

"Really!" I jump on her and kiss all over her face and neck
