thirty nine

jaehyun texted jungwoo, asking whether or not he's free because he wanted to go play basketball later that afternoon. jungwoo wasnt really having it because he was still mad that jaehyun kept showing him an attitude the other week.

so jungwoo told him to fuck off. at first, jaehyun didnt know what he did wrong. but then it took him about ten minutes to finally let it get to him. so he decided to go over to jungwoo's apartment to properly apologize.

at 1:15pm, he took his keys and left.

knock knock! jaehyun loudly banged his knuckles onto the door. within seconds, the door opened. and jungwoo was shocked to see jaehyun in front of him. but then he got back to normal and said, "oh its just you," before allowing him in.

jaehyun smiled, then walked in. "why? were you expecting company?" he asked, to ease the tension. but jungwoo just hummed, showing his annoyance to his bestfriend. jaehyun sat down on one of the chairs in his kitchen.

then he sighed and said, "dude are you mad at me?", hoping jungwoo would say no. but he did. he actually said, "fuck yea," it kind of caught him off guard because he expected any other answer other than fuck yea. so it took him a few seconds to think of what to say next.

"im sorry, okay? i dont know why i was such a dick the other week. but if it makes you feel any better, i wasnt just a dick to you," jaehyun tried to justify his actions, sheepishly smiling at the boy standing in front of him, hoping for him to accept his apology.

jungwoo rolled his eyes and folded his arms together. "i know, dickhead. you were like that to aeri too," he brought of his other bestfriend. jaehyun's eyebrows raised, he didnt expect jungwoo to bring up aeri, nor did he expect jungwoo to even know about their problem. so he just awkwardly had to act like nothing happened.

"to be fair, mark lee is a total asshole! as her bestfriend, i needed to knock some sense into her," said jaehyun, again, still trying to justify his asshole move. jungwoo groaned, then threw a pillow he found on the sofa right at jaehyun's face. he almost fell off the chair, he cursed at jungwoo under his breath.

"stop trying to justify yourself, jae. why cant you just see that mark has changed for the better? think about it, if he didnt, why would he meet up with her to properly apologize when he couldve just texted her or do something of the bare minimum?" jungwoo was defending mark too. because mark was receiving very unnecessary hate from jung jaehyun.

all jaehyun did was scoff, and rolled around on his chair. "you're hearing yourself right? dude, he's a dick. do you know how many times he manipulated her into thinking he loved her?-" before he could even finish, jungwoo cut him off.

"- and how are you so sure about his feelings for her? you and i both know hes a dick. but why are you so sure that this mark guy hasnt changed? did you date him or did aeri date him? cause it seems like you know mark better than her," jungwoo defended aeri even when she wasnt there.

jaehyun just shut himself up. he knew jungwoo had a point. "chungha manipulated you, cheated on you. but why did you forgive her?" he spoke, walking closer to jaehyun. the boy just looked up at his bestfriend, waiting to hear what he had to say next. "because she changed right? you were sure of it, werent you?" was what he said next.

he nodded his head, looking away. because now he knew what jungwoo was about to say next. "so what makes mark and chungha any different? you and aeri any different? both of you saw change, and offered forgiveness," he ended his statement. jaehyun knew he was right. hell, even jungwoo knew whatever he said was correct.
