After New Year’s Eve things began to calm down. Parker and I ended up finding out the way back to the room and no one had realized we were gone, which was a good thing. When we got back home after that trip everything went back to normal, or as close to normal as possible. Cassadee had let it slip that Parker and I were somewhat of a thing to Trevor, not that he cared. It made things somewhat easier around the house as long as Jayden and Miranda weren't home.
School has also started again, which was both good and bad. The boys had won another game which meant me were one game away from playing in our fourth state championship game. That was sure exciting.
I was sitting in drama class listening to Ms. Evans go on and on about the new production they were planning. I was sitting with Miranda who was so focused on her phone she had no idea that everyone around her at started working. "Hey," I said trying to get her attention on me.
"Hey sorry I was just asking Jayden about the game this week," she commented without even looking at me. I nodded my head in response and got up.
She wasn't paying attention so I figured I'd go find someone who would listen to me. Parker was sitting in the back with an uninterested look in his eyes, I walked over and sat beside him. He turned and smiled at me, something that never would have happened before.
"What's up?" He asked.
I scanned the room to make sure no one was watching us before continuing, "Nothing. Your sister is on her phone totally ignoring me."
"Oh so now she's my sister instead of your best friend," he teased. I pushed him playfully and just smirked. "You wanna do something tonight?"
Since it was a Thursday night and we had an off day tomorrow I didn't see why not. "How do you figure we do that?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "We can get Cassadee to cover for us." I nodded and then headed out for the rest of the day.
Having Cassadee cover for us was like she was repaying me for all the times I covered for her when she would sneak out at night. Jayden and Miranda happened to be staying home tonight which made things a little bit more difficult. Leave it to them to stay in the one night I want to go out.
It was about 6 o'clock and I headed for the door. Parker had left twenty minutes before I did, just so they couldn't assume anything. I was almost out the door when Miranda stopped me.
"Where you going?" she asked casually.
Since I hadn't thought of a proper excuse I made something up on the spot. "Just gonna go drive around for a bit, I need to relax." She seemed to be pleased with the answer because she let me go. Once out of the house I raced to my car before anyone else could ask me something. I drove down the familiar rode towards Max's house, where I would pick up Parker. When I got there he was talking with Max, Ava close by. I got out of my car to greet the three of them.
"Hey babe," Max greeted me.
"Going out tonight?" Ava questioned.
"Yep, figured we'd leave Parker’s car here so no one at home suspected anything," I sighed. "Have fun with Max tonight."
"Ready Jos?" Parker asked. I nodded my head and walked to my car unlocking the door. I walked over to the driver's side and got it, Parker wasn't amused. "Why are you driving?"
"Because its my car and I don't want you hurting her," My car was my everything he should know this by now. Parker knew better than to fight me on this so he got in on the passenger side. "Where to?" I asked realizing I had absolutely no clue where we were going to hang out.
