It was Wednesday, I think. To be honest I have no clue what day it was. I was so tired of school that it was literally putting a toll on my life. We had two more weeks before break and one of those weeks consisted of nothing but finals. It was like high school's hell week, as if that wasn't every day.

I was standing by my locker trying to stay awake. I've been up late the last couple of nights. Lexis would not stop crying last night, I think she ended up staying in my room. The bell rang for first period. I shut my locker and headed off to Pre-Cal.

As if finals weren't enough. Next week was our semi-formal, meaning the hallways were full of girls carrying balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, and any other stupid thing you could think of. Miranda was one of the girls yesterday and I wanted to strangle her. She told me I was bitter. To hell I was bitter. I just don't get the point of making it known to the whole god damn school who asked you. If you need the attention that bad, do something scandalous, at least you'd last longer in the spot light.

I walked into Walker's class and took my seat. Charlie, being the ever popular girl she was, was on her third day of random shit on her desk. She acted all surprised, it was disgusting. If I didn't know her better I would say she was sending them to herself, now that would be scandalous.

Parker waltzed in two minutes after the bell rang. He handed Mr. Walker a note and then walked to the seat behind me. I eyed him as he passed me, he just shrugged. I stole a glance at Charlie to see if she saw this exchange, she did. Her face had gone from calm and composed to down right jealous.

The rest of the period was spent taking notes. That's all any math class is. The bell rang and the classroom cleared out. I stayed behind just so I didn't have to deal with Charlie. Since I forgot to get my book for Chemistry I walked over to my locker. Once I arrived, there was a little white envelope with a rose taped to it. I pealed it off, grabbed my book, and rushed off to class.

I didn't open the envelope until the bell rang for lunch. I stayed behind in the theater, pretending I was looking for something. Miranda came up to me.

"Aren't you coming to lunch?"

"Yeah I'll be there in a minute. I dropped one of my earrings." She bought my excuse and exited out of the theater.

I was then left alone. I opened the envelope and saw the same purple paper that had haunted me for the last couple of months.

Date Saturday. Be ready at 5.

I shoved the note back into my bag and headed off the cafe. Parker was such a dork. He was going to get us caught, though if someone found these letters before I did. Once in the cafeteria, I took my seat across from Miranda. Everyone was already there when I arrived. I wasn't hungry so I just snacked off Max and Miranda's trays.

"Where were you?" Max asked.

"I had dropped something in the theater," I said. Parker eyed me, he was on to me. I dare not look at him.

"So winter formal," Miranda said changing the subject. "We're all going together, right?"

"Yeah I think so," Max said.

"I don't want to go this year,” I confessed. Miranda almost spit her drink all over me.

"What! We haven't missed a formal since we were freshman!"

"All you guys have dates. I’d rather not third wheel," I stated. I saw the sparkle in Miranda's eyes gleam.

"Parker doesn't. Go with him."

"No," We both said in unison.

"You're going so deal with it."

After lunch I headed off to photography. I had this class with Ava, so we sat together. We were working on photoshopping different effects and compositions into our pictures. It was part of our final.

"So are you really not going to winter formal?" Ava asked.

I sighed. "Miranda will drag me there no matter what. It's whatever. So how did Max ask you?" I was waiting for the over the top answer.

"He just came out and asked me. I'm not into all that over the top stuff," she chuckled.

"You're the first person, other than myself, who has said that," I told her. Ava and I had a lot in common. It was cool. Since Miranda was always with Jayden, having Ava kinda filled the void. The one thing that wasn't good was she knew my secret, while my best friend didn't.

School was over and the boys had to stay after for practice. They had been winning games and only had a couple more until state. I decided to head home instead of going. When I got home Lexis was watching television and Cassadee was running around.

"Woah, what's going on?" I threw my bag to the floor and walked over to where Lexis was laying down. She didn't look to hot.

"Lex is sick. We're supposed to be meeting Trevor in half an hour and now I can't get a hold of him."

Cassadee continued to pace around the house with the phone glued to her ear. I touched Lex's forehead and sure enough she was burning up.

"Cass I'll watch her. Go to Trevor, I'm sure its important."

"Jos I can't do that to you."

After arguing with her for twenty minutes I finally got her to agree. Once she was out of the house I carried Lexis up to my room and got her settled in my bed.

"You okay Lex?" I asked. She nodded and curled into a ball. "Take a nap baby. I'll be right here," I kissed her forehead.

One she was asleep I started working on my homework. It wasn't long until Lexis was wining again. I walked over to her and felt her head. Her fever was getting worse. I texted Cassadee to see to what medicine she took. It took me ten minutes of pleading to get her to down the teaspoon of cold medicine. An hour later the dramatic sounds of my family came through the front door. I ran out of my room quickly.

"She just fell asleep!" I yelled. There was no way in hell they were going to wake her up.

"Sorry auntzilla," Jayden said.

I ignored his comment and walked back into my room. Thankfully Lexis was still out. Since I was done with my homework I sat on my couch and watched television. A couple minutes later Parker tip toed into my room. He sat down next to me.

"What's wrong with her?"

"She's sick and Cassadee had to leave," I stated.

"You're a good aunt," he whispered.

"Thanks," I said.

He pecked my lips quickly before heading to the door. Before he left he turned around. "Remember Saturday." With that he shut the door and walked out.
