Winter Formal. That's all everyone had been talking about for the last week, stupid winter formal. Don't get me wrong I usually love winter formal when I go with friends. This year I have to go to winter formal alone while everyone else has a date.
"I just don't understand whose idea it was to have winter formal so close to Christmas! Like sixty dollars for a ticket is a lot not to mention the dress and shoes," I complained to the girls. At the current moment we were at a beauty salon getting hair, nails, and make up done.
"You're just mad because you don't have anyone to go with," Miranda commented. She's been so annoying lately constantly reminding me that I don't have anyone, little does she know I do. Ava gave me a sympathetic glance but I shook it off.
It’s been a week since Parker and I's little get away date and things have been going well. We try to talk to each other every night via our phones. Its so frustrating being so close but not being able to do anything. All we do is text each other or talk on the phone at three in the morning.
At the moment my hair was being curled and pinned up in a sort of half up half down way. To be honest I don't know why I'm even getting it done. I didn’t even want to go.
"Can't you smile?"
"No." Since my hair was done I excused my self to the bathroom. I didn't have to use it or anything I just needed a break of faking interest. "This sucks," I murmured.
"I know," I nearly jumped and hit my head on the ceiling. "Sorry to scare you," Ava said.
"It's all good." We stayed in the bathroom a while longer checking out our hair before walking out into the lobby.
"So Ava are you ready for your first formal?" Miranda asked.
"Yea I guess. I mean its just another dance.”

The gym was decked out to resemble a winter wonderland, our school's winter formal theme every year since the beginning of time. As if kids from Massachusetts didn’t know what snow was. The dance was going on in full swing, couples were dancing and just having a good time. Miranda and Jayden were out on the dance floor along side Max and Ava. Charlie was causally grinding on some random guy while giving lustful eyes at Parker who was polity dancing with some freshman who asked.I was sitting alone at a table soaking everything in.At the moment a slow song was going on and the groups of girls that came without dates left the floor. From where I sat I could see Max and Ava perfectly. I used to believe Jayden and Miranda were the perfect couple, and they are but Max and Ava may have them beat. The way he treats her and how they fit together is utter perfection.
"Hey princess," I turned around knowing exactly who had just whispered in my ear.
"Hey," I whispered back unenthusiastically.
"What's wrong beautiful, Not having fun?"
Its not that I wasn't having fun because I was. I had danced with a couple freshman and some of the football boys and had a dance off with Miranda and Ava but I wasn't happy.
"Come on, I know where we can go." I got up and followed Parker out of the gymnasium and into the hallways. He dragged me in the dark until we were at the exact location where we were when I found out he was my admirer. "Better?"
"Much," I stood up on my tip toes and placed a kiss on his lips. There we stood in each other's arms, in the dark hallways, swaying back and forth to no music at all. It was then that I realized that Parker and I didn't need anything or anyone to be happy.
"So Christmas is coming up," Parker said looking at my face. "What does my princess want?"
I giggled at the way he called me princess. "Nothing just you."
Later that night, and when I say night I mean like three in the morning Parker came into my room. "What are you doing in here?" I questioned.
"This is stupid! We live in the same damn house but I'm not aloud to hang out with you or sleep in the same bed as you. Jayden and Miranda do it all the time!" He was clearly frustrated. He fell onto my bed and grabbed my waist, instinctively I curled into him.
