Before the chapter starts I just wanted to say that I am sorry for the late update. My classes were stressing me out and I had some HUGE writer's block. I also wanted to say that I am so THANKFUL for 1.3K READS. I had no idea that so many people would like and read this story. I notice every vote and comment they really mean a lot to me. I am off for thanksgiving break so definitely look out for an update.
Mei takes a breath of fresh air and wipes the tears that were stinging her eyes. Looking around, the neighborhood looks foreign yet familiar at the same time. The leaves on the trees in transition from green to orange, sprinklers spinning and watering the perfectly cut green grass, paint freshly coated on the houses. Mei looks ahead and sees her old home. She hasn't called that house a home in apparently 25 plus years.
Mei walks up the walk way and stares at the red front door. It was painted maple red with a silver handle and white door bell on the other side of the wooden frame. Looking into the garage windows she sees it empty. Assuming her mom was at work, she teleports to other side of the door.
Out of habit, Mei takes her boots off at the door. The freshly polished floors make her slide slightly as she walks through the hallway. Quietly observing the first floor of the house she notices everything is the same. Walking up the stairs, she ignores the guest rooms, takes a left and enters her mothers room.
A treasure chest similar to her own sits at the foot of the king size bed. Cotten sheets and white fur comforter are neatly made and cold as if they haven't been slept in the night before. Going towards the dresser, she picks up a photo of her father and mother smiling happily into the camera on their wedding night. Her mother standing straight as the wedding dress hugs her curves and a pearl necklace sits on her neck. A white veil covering her hair that was loosely curled and fell to her mid back. Mei's father was dressed in a black suit, his right arm wrapped around her mothers waist. In his other hand he carries a wooden broom, the handle covered in multiple ribbons.
Placing the photo down, Mei exists and closes the door. Walking past the stairs, Mei walks into the room that she was dreading the most. Her room.
To her surprise, almost everything was the same. Her queen size bed was neatly made, the clothes she didn't take with her were still in her closet, posters of her favorite artists still decorated the room. What wasn't the same were the blue and yellow sticky notes that coated the walls. Pulling one of the wall she notices it as her mother's hand writing.
'Happy Birthday, my sweet girl' danced across the paper.
Placing it back in it's spot she picks another one off the wall. 'I'm so sorry' was written, once again in her mother's handwriting. A bunch of small phrases just like that one covered all four of her bedroom walls. From 'come home', 'I miss you' to 'give me some sort of sign' and 'please forgive me'. This was a way Mei's mother coped with the heartbreak and grief. For the third time that day tears swell up in her eyes. Mei wishes she could run into her mother's eyes and giver her a hug, smelling the scent of her lavender perfume but she can't, not anymore. Looking on top of her dresser she sees a stack of pink sticky notes and a black pen. Grabbing a sticky note from the stack and the pen Mei teleports into her mom's room. Shakily she writes in big print and sticks the sticky note onto her mother's bedroom wall. Placing the sticky note and pen back on her dresser, she teleports away and prepares herself for her sleepover with Julie.
