BRIGHT; JULIE MOLINA

Chapter 2

"Ummm" Mei says. A feeling of bone chilling fear went down her spine. She couldn't move, she was in shock. 'He can see me? How can he see me? Can he see the others?' she thinks to herself. Her eyes travel and reach her band. They shrug their shoulders, being just as shocked as she is. Fortunately, the girl in the monster shoes had an answer for the boy. 

"She is our new neighbor from next door." 

"Then how come we haven't seen her before?" questions the boy with a raised eyebrow. 

"She is homeschooled and really shy. Look she is frozen in fear and you are making her uncomfortable it is best if you leave right now," the girl says shoving the boy out of the studio.

"Ok ok, I'm leaving. I just came to tell you that dinner is ready." 

"Ok thanks...I'll be there in a few." she says as the boy walks away. 

Everyone looks at Mei, she exhales an unneeded breath. 

"Who was that? And how was he able to see me? I am dead and a ghost. This should not be happening. What do I do?" Mei questions as she starts to pace back in forth. 

"I have no idea but I need to go," says Julie. She starts walking to the doors but stops. "Look I am very sorry for what happened to you guys, but this isn't your studio anymore. You have to leave." She walks towards her house. 

"But wait. We..we didn't get your name." Luke states. Julie turns around.

" It's Julie." 

"Cool," Mei hits Luke in the back of the head. 

"Dude, she just kicked us out of the studio" Mei says to Luke but he ignores her. 

"I'm Luke by the way and this is-" 

"Reggie. I'm Reggie" Reggie says with a wave and a smile. 

"Alex. How's it going?" Alex says with a short nod.

"Mei at your service, Princess" Mei says with a smirk making Julie smile and blush. Mei liked it when Julie was flustered, she thought it was cute. Unknowing to them, Julie had a zoo running around her stomach with the sight of Mei's smirk. 

"Ba-da" says Luke weakly with jazz hands. 

Julie face drops her smile and she rolls her eyes. 

"Ok?" she questions and she walks towards her house. 

"Julie seems nice" Reggie says with a smile. 

"Yeah and it looks like someone has a crush" Alex says looking at Mei. 

"What? Huh? No I don't" Mei says in denial. She turns to Reggie. "And did you miss the part where she kicked us out the studio?" Reggie shrugs. 

"So now what?" asks Mei. She goes and sits on the couch, Alex and Reggie on each side of her. Luke stands a few feet in front of them. 

"We should go check out the house" Luke states.

"Sure but one problem. People can see Mei" says Alex. Mei leans her head on his shoulder absolutely exhausted from the previous events. 

"Ok so how about this...you, Reggie and I go and check out the house while Mei stays here and look for clothes and stuff that is ours." Luke says. They all nod their heads in agreement. 

"Okay," they say at the same time. Mei, Alex and Reggie stand up from the couch. 

"Well be back soon" Alex says softly to Mei. In a blink of an eye Luke, Alex and Reggie teleport away leaving Mei alone. 

Mei looks around the studio and remembers her chest that she never got to open. She walks over to it and reaches out towards it. Her finger tips feel the cold metal of the handle that is covered in a thin layer of dust. She unlocks the chest and opens it. 

Everything is just how she remembers. Her multiple song books stacked on top of each other, multiple outfits and shoes neatly folded and placed down, wads of cash given to her by her mother when she kicked her out paying her to never return but none of those really caught her attention. On top of everything was her very first microphone. Her dad gave it to her before he left for Iraq, he was her biggest fan. He would always enjoyed listening to her sing no matter the song or if her two front teeth were missing and she sounded funny. 

Mei smiles sadly at the memory, tears blur her vision. She spins her father's ring around her finger unconsciously. Mei sighs as she closes her chest and wipes her eyes. She searches the studio and finds some of the boy's stuff. She finds some of their clothes and instruments. The boys teleport into the studio. 

"So how was the house?" asks Mei. 

"We weren't able to see the whole thing but the front looks nice. Julie was eating dinner with her family so we will check it out later when they're asleep. That way, you can come with us," replies Reggie. 

"Awesome! Well I found some of your guys' clothes and instruments. How about we play a song for old time sake?" Mei suggests with a smile. The band has wide grins on their faces as they nod their head yes.
