The night had passed slowly, I had woken up a little bit and saw Clare getting up but I prefered letting her alone, so I acted as if I was sleeping.
I was sitting, my brother's head on my legs, I was looking around.
Everyone was sleeping. At the end of the day humans weren't that different from us elfs, and I grew close to people quickly.
Nicholas was so cute when while sleeping.. He had a bad disposition and I was aware of that, but he was the only thing that remained from my family and I loved him a lot, I knew he reciprocated.
I paid attention not to wake him up and slid away from under his head, but I knew it wouldn't work.
Nick opened his eyes.
"Hey little sister.." he said yawning.
"We are twins, I'm no longer little." I answered, outlining a smile.
"Yeah, but you're shorter" he smiled.
"Really funny" I answered sarcastically "I'm going to the stream."
I was about to get up but he stopped me with an arm.
"Can I come with you?"
"Why are you even asking me?" he relaxed and I took advantage of that to separate from his grip.
"Anyway, good morning Nicholas" I winked and headed off.
"Good morning!" I heard him screaming.

I saw her getting up and followed her, I didn't feel like moving, but I wanted to stay a little bit with her.
The fog was very thick, I couldn't see nearly anything and it took me a minute to find her.
She was on the bank.
She laid down on the ground and started staring at the sky. It turned to daytime recently, but the summer made the climate more hot.
I placed myself next to her and took her hand.
We remained in silence for a while.
"Do you remember?" she asked after a while.
"Yes" I smiled gloomily.
"It was nice looking at the clouds with our parents, but it seems like we're left alone now."
"They never left us, Violet" I looked at her.
I saw a tear rolling down from her light blue eyes, I dried it with my thumb.
Okay, I was an asshole regarding my character but my parents and Violet were part of the few people I really loved.
I hugged her and we remained there staring at the sky for a little bit more.
"I miss them" I said.
"I know."
"I love you little sis" I looked at her.
She looked back at me.
"Don't call me little sis."
I winced.
"I love you too, a lot." she smiled at me.

We were still laying when I heard a noise.
I let my sister's hand go and released the hug, just in time to turn to my left side and I saw a demon hidden in the fog.
It was quiet big and disgusting. It had fire-red eyes and its skin was soggy, I had impulses to vomit.
It had four paws with a thorny tail and its body was similar to a crocodile's one, even if I figured out it moved more quickly.
"Fuck." just in time to realise what was going on and I screamed.
"Violet watch out!"
My sister didn't seem like figuring it out and so I pushed her sideways and we rolled near the cliff together, with my body that acted as a shield.
It seemed like my scream woke the others up, who were standing there at attention near the extinguished bonfire.
The demon was coming to us. I didn't know what to do and where to escape considering that behind me there was a river that flowed into a really high waterfall.
Aloft I saw some huge vultures, they seemed so big that maybe a human being could have sat on their back.
It seemed like they had set their sights on the demon, considering that they kept on flying round and round without ever descending nosedive. I wish I could have said to them that it wouldn't have been a good meal.
I looked down again just in time and that slimy and disgusting thing dashed over me, I succeeded in avoiding it by a hair's breadth, but it injured my arm. The pain was stabbing and I bent me over.
But I had forgotten that behind me there was my sister.
The demon got over it quickly and started moving towards her, who was moving backwards more and more, risking to fall down from the cliff at any moment. I could see the fear on her face. Nobody could've ever survived falling down from a height like that.
I wasn't able to get up, the pain got a leg up on me and I was holding the bleeding arm.
