CASPIANS POV
I hummed in my head feeling contented.
Today was the day father told the Andersons family about my engagement with Lia.
It was difficult to persuade father to let the engagement be pulled earlier since the original plan was to announce our engagement once Lia turn 10.
The duke told my father last year to changed the original date of 5-year old to 10-year old and I didn't mind it much during that time. Now, that I have seen her, I didnt want to wait for 5 more years.
I heard many noble families have begun asking for Lia's hand after the ball that she first attended so she might get snatched away from me before she reach 10.
I was ready to do anything to make Father agree to my request, luckily, he agreed right away but he still had to think about something that could bribe the duke to allow this engagement to continue.
Mother was very neutral about it and told me that she would first observe my fiancée if she was worthy to become my queen but never the less, she allowed it while Amir was Amir. He didnt care what I do with my life that isnt really related to him but he seemed satisfied with the answer.
"Here we are." I smiled at Lia and opened the door that leads to my garden.
While I pulled the chair for Lia, I noticed a heated gaze behind my back. I didn't need to turn to know that it was Anthony who was glaring at me.
'This will be a tough afternoon I don't really care as long as Lia will become mine.'
XAVIERS POV
Once the children went out I glared at this son of a biatch that I call king.
I might get killed for thinking that but he really is one.
"I'll excuse myself." Queen Aurelia said while looking at the king amusedly while the king begged his wife not to go with his eyes.
Once the queen went out I glared at my King again while he smiled sheepishly.
"Williams, if I remember properly, we had an agreement that my daughter was supposed to get engaged at age 10." I said with a hard voice.
This sly and ridiculous guy never changed in the 28 years we knew each other.
"I'm sorry?" The king said sheepishly. "You should feel honored that this king is apologizing."
"I'd rather like this king annul the engagement."
"I can't do that." The king sighed.
"And why is that?"
"It's my son, Caspian. We have always told him that once Ammelia turns 5, he will get engage with her but the date suddenly changed to Ammelia getting engaged at age 10."
"So? We agreed last year to change the date."
"Caspian asked me to announce it sooner and I had to agree. You know, ever since he met the nobles, he always had an empty smile but for once I saw a smile with emotions and that smile was for Ammelia." The king reasoned.
'I don't care how thay kid smile for all I care he could cry while smiling just to show an emotion.'
"But now my daughter might get mad at me for not telling her." I grumbled.
I don't want my little angel to ignore me like when she ignored me for 3 days for accidentally eating her chocolates and in my defense, I saw the chocolate on my office table so I thought it was supposed to be mine. She might even ignore me for a month because of how serious this is.
"What?" The king laughed at me.
"But you could tell her that I made a proposal that you cant reject and she'll understand." The king smiled slyly.
'What's this guy planning now?'
"What proposal?" I asked suspiciously.
"Let's say. I'll allow you to investigate your wife's death." He said.
"What?" I asked incredulously. "I literally begged you before and now you'll agree just for an engagement?"
"You know how precious my son is to me and I owe your daughter for making my son's expression change after years of his face looking bored." The king said with a laugh.
'Is this bastard serious? If that's his plan, then he won, he knows I cant refuse that offer.' I stared at him checking if he's not joking, knowing his personality he could be.
"Yes, I am serious." He said noticing my suspicious stare. "Just make sure you do it quietly. We don't need a ruckus and knowing your suborn head, I believe that you were already looking for clues for the last years even though I warned you not to."
"You better not take this back." I said ignoring the last part he said.
"Yes, yes. We'll announce their engagement before they start going to the academy. Now get back to work." He said while waving his hands.
"Thank you for your generosity Your Majesty." I bowed then left.
'He wasn't exactly generous though but at least my daughter isn't getting married yet.' I thought while walking towards the door.
"Oh, wait a momen, Xavier." The king called.
"Yes?" I asked.
"I need you to send a few of your soldiers to the Cycrosm Kingdom, the other soldiers that were sent before are coming back."
"They still haven't found 'it'?" I asked exasperated. "They've been asking for help for almost a few decades now to find that. Are they even sure it exists?"
"It does." He replied confidently. "My grandfather used to tell me stories about 'it'."
"I'll follow your instructions then, Your Majesty." I said.
If he wishes to find 'it' too then I should follow his orders but that have been missing for a long time now and there aren't even records about 'it'.
"Good. You may leave." He said.
I bowed and turned to leave.
'But I am curious about 'it' and how the past kings believed about 'it'.
