Part 13: The Grace Period

Mazikeen's POV:
I KNOW FOR A FACT RITA DID NOT JUST ASK IF WE WERE DATING!!
I kept walking and I could just feel the awkwardness. I heard Rita say "I'll just hunt her down later and ask her"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~There was a grace period before the next task which I was grateful for. It turns out Cain hadn't told Andre, Anatole or Cameron about me not being their real sister and me being the daughter of Sirius Black. Oh yeah and our parents coming to Hogwarts. I was glad Cain hadn't told them yet. I've been holding off but I want to tell them myself. Things have been going good with Viktor though. He's actually a very sweet and kind guy. With me he's a lot less serious (Hehehe Sirius😂 sorry had to do that) and he was actually very funny and loved to joke around with me. I'm thankful to have him in my life. Without Viktor I wouldn't know what to do to be honest.

The Yule ball was coming up and Professor McGonagall had us practicing. She ended up called Ron up to be an example and it was the funniest thing ever. The twins were mocking the dancing which was funny. Once me and Viktor started practicing I realized he was really good at dancing. Me on the other hand, not so much. "I am terrible at this" I laughed and Viktor smiled a little "You're not as bad as I used to be. I used to be terrible" He laughed. I smiled "Im like a baby deer trying to walk for the first time" Me and Viktor both laughed at that one. Viktor smiled "Here this might help. Step onto my feet" I looked at him confused "Wait what?" He laughed a little and lifted me onto his feet and started to dance again "See now it's much easier" I smiled "Well you're doing most of the work" Professor McGonagall walked over to us "Good job you two" I smiled and so did Viktor.

During dinner that night Anatole and Andre walked over to me and handed me a note. "What's this?" I took it and they smiled "It's from your future husband" Andre laughed and I glared at him "You guys are so childish" I took the note and opened it.
Dear Mazikeen
         Please meet me at the astronomy tower. I have something to show you.
Yours truly,
V.K.

There was many things off about that note. First thing was that the handwriting was different. The second thing was that he put Dear instead of dearest like he usually does. Then the put Yours Truly instead of With Love. The last thing was that he signed it V.K. instead of Viktor. I went over to Andre and Anatole "Who gave you this letter?" They shrugged "Some other Durmstrang student gave it to us and said it was from Viktor and to give it to you" Andre looked at me "Why?" I sighed "This isn't Viktor's handwriting, though it is close, and there's many things that are different." Andre and Anatole looked at eachother "Hmmm well you should go and see what is it" I looked at them "Yeah I'll just go die thanks" I walked away and started to walk to the astronomy tower

I had my wand in hand as I walked there not knowing what could happen. I walked into the room and saw Rita Skeeter of all people. "Are you kidding me" I shook my head and she smiled "Mazikeen Morningstar so good to see you. Now I just have a few questions." I sat down on one of the desks "Will you leave me alone after?" Rita nodded "Yep! Now first question. How did you and Viktor meet?" I sighed "We met at the Quidditch World Cup when Death Eaters attacked" Rita nodded "Now how did he ask you to the Yule ball" I smiled slightly thinking about it "He told me there was this girl he liked and he didn't know how to ask her. So I told him to just go for it and a little while later he asked me." Rita smiled "Ah young love. Now how do you feel about both your brother and Viktor being picked to compete in the tournament?" I sighed "I wasn't happy when I found out my brother Cain had put his name in. I was very worried when Viktor's name was called. Then I heard my brothers name called after he told me he didn't put his name in." Rita nodded "So would you say that your brother betrayed you?" I shook my head "No! He would never but I did get mad after finding out he put in name in but I've learned that it is what it is and I can't change it." Rita nodded "And how are you handling the news that your parents have succeeded in escaping again and attacking at an event yesterday killing over 20 muggles?" I froze and my jaw dropped. They escaped again?! I heard Rita's camera snap and I saw the light flash. "This is going to make a great story. Now once again are you and Viktor dating?" I jumped up and ran out "This can't be happening!" I ran to the Durmstrang ship and knocked on the door. A boy opened it and I walked past him "Where's Andre and Anatole" He nodded and brought them out "Hey Mazikeen what are you doing here?" I glared at them "You knew didn't you?! You didn't tell me about them getting away again?!" Andre and Anatole looked at each other and sighed "Sorry Maze we just forgot-" I laughed "No! You don't get to forget! This is so unfair! You guys have been keeping stuff from me! Why?!" A few students looked at us and some even came out of their rooms. "Maze you don't understand-" I shook my head feeling tears in my eyes "No I understand!" I saw Viktor walk out "I had to find out from Rita Skeeter that they killed 20 people! You think I couldn't handle it?!" Andre looked a little mad "Ok then when were you going to tell us that you aren't actually our sister. When were you going to tell us that you're our uncle who has been in Azkaban's daughter? Hm?!" I froze "Who told you that" Anatole shook his head "Cain told us. He told us not to tell you" I shook my head "I'm done here" I walked out and started to walk towards the castle when I felt someone grab my hand. "Maze are you ok?" I turned around to see Viktor.

I shook my head before I just started sobbing "No" Viktor hugged me and sighed "Everything will be ok I promise." I nodded as he held me. Just being with him made all my worry's go away. I don't know what it was about him, maybe it was the way he treated me. Or maybe the way he smiled but whatever it is, it was helping.
