(A/N) - Just a quick chapter, about Draco's letter.
Draco's POV
Draco held the letter in his hands, nervous to open it. It had to be important if it was sent to him through Professor McGonagall. He turned the envelope over and slowly opened it. The suspense grew as he took out the paper and unfolded it. The letter read:
My dearest Draco,
I couldn't send this letter to you directly, as I fear that it may fall into the wrong hands. I thought you should know that the Ministry of Magic have cleared all charges against me and see no reason for a hearing as I have committed no crimes. Although, I cannot say the same for your father. He did many unforgivable things during his time as a Death Eater, and will be convicted and punished as they see fit.
Your fathers trial is on October 1st and you have been called as a witness, as have I. I am sure that the Ministry will tell you this themselves, but I wanted you to hear it from me. After everything, I am still your mother. All I have ever wanted it to try and protect you.
There is something that I must tell you. Rumours say that the Death Eaters are reconciling. They want to avenge the death of Voldemort. I don't know how or when but I want you to be cautious. Don't try and contact me, it isn't safe. I will see you at the hearing.
Be careful, I love you,
Narcissa.
Draco read over her words repeatedly. He really hoped that she was wrong about the Death Eaters. It was only now that he realised how much he missed his mother. Although, he couldn't care less about what happened to his father. He despised him for everything he had done. Draco never was good enough to meet his expectations. He thought about the Death Eaters and it occurred to him that he had to tell Hermione.
He went to tell her, but couldn't find her. She wasn't anywhere in the common room and so he decided to go for a walk instead. It didn't matter that it was out of hours, being head boy had its advantages.
Draco walked down the stairs and along the dark, empty hallway. He froze when he heard a loud, high pitched scream, before he began to run towards it. He followed the screams that were getting louder, it sounded as if someone was screaming in pain. He came to a sudden stop and stared in horror at the scene in front of him.
