~Cardinals~

Mary held Bucky's arm as they went back into his apartment. A man recognized Bucky while they were out, so they had to hurry home. Steve was standing in the middle of the room.

He stared at the pair. "Were you two fondue-ing?" He asked.

"This is why you're a virgin, Steve." Mary crossed her arms.

Bucky stayed quiet.

"Do you know me?" Steve asked him.

"You're Steve." Bucky said. "I read about you in a museum."

Steve put Bucky's journal down. "I know you're nervous." He said. "And you have plenty of reasons to be. But you're lying."

"I wasn't in Vienna." Bucky said. "I don't do that anymore."

"Well the people who think you did are coming here right now." Steve said. "And they're not planning on taking you in alive."

"That's smart." Bucky nodded. "Good strategy."

"This doesn't have to end in a fight, Buck." Steve warned.

"It always ends in a fight." Bucky turned toward Mary. He took his glove off to reveal his metal hand to Steve.

"You pulled me from the river." Steve said. "Why?"

"I don't know." Bucky said.

"Yes you do."

Mary screamed and ran into the corner when a bomb landed in between the three of them. She pulled her gun out of her back pocket only for Steve to throw his shield and knock it out the window.

Bucky threw a table at the door to block the police from coming in. Two officers came through the window, shooting wildly. A bullet went through the thin door, lodging itself in Mary's shoulder.

"Why am I always getting shot?" She groaned.

"Mary, get that bullet out of you and go with Sam!" Steve shouted.

"I don't like him!" Mary punched an officer with her bare knuckles.

"Get to him!" Steve slammed his shield into an officer. "He'll find you!"

Mary ran to the window and pushed off her feet to hit the roof of the building next to her. She ran across the building to look for the son of a bitch.

Bucky jumped off the side of the building to get his backpack, but a new guy stopped him. A helicopter came in and began shooting at the enhanced humans. Sam flew in and knocked the helicopter off course. Bucky jumped off the roof.

"Holy shit!" Mary shouted.

Sam swooped down to Mary, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Here we go!"

"Sam, put me down!" Mary screamed, slapping his arms.

"Stop, or I'll drop you!"

"I'd rather die than have you carry me around like a child!" Mary rolled her eyes.

Sam flew under the bridge, Mary hanging in his arms. He dropped her through Steve's windshield and attacked the cat man. Mary glared at Steve for making her do that.

Bucky planted a bomb on the roof. Just as he got out, it exploded. Sam threw the cat man out of the tunnel. Steve grabbed Mary by her shirt and threw her on his shield through the explosion. The three of them ran to Bucky and the cat man laying in the road.

S.H.I.E.L.D. cars began to surround them. Mary helped Bucky on his feet. War Machine landed in between them.

"Stand down, now." He said. "Congratulations, Cap, you're a criminal."
