Six heroes fought hundreds of Hydra agents in the woods of a facility in Sokovia. The heroes seemed to be winning. It was angering the leader, Baron Strucker.
Strucker rushed into the lab. "Who gave the order to attack?" He asked.
"Herr Strucker, it's the Avengers." A scientist said.
"They landed in the far woods." A soldier came to him. "The perimeter guard panicked."
"They have to be after the scepter." Strucker muttered. "Can we hold them?"
"They're Avengers." The scientist answered.
"Deploy the rest of the tanks!" Strucker ordered. "Concentrate fire on the weak ones. A hit may make them close ranks. Bring the girl out of the cryo."
Strucker stepped to his right hand man. "Everything we've accomplished, but we're on the verge of our greatest breakthrough."
"Then let's show them what we've accomplished." The man said.
Back in the cryo chamber, two Hydra soldiers released the girl's unconscious body.
"Soldier, awake." One of the men said.
The girl's eyes shot open. She looked between the two men. They handed her a high tech gun and a mask.
"Hail Hydra." She said.
"Mary." Strucker met up halfway with his super soldier. "There's six of them and one of you. We have men and weapons to outnumber them completely, but nothing is helping. We need you to kill them."
"Heal, kill, follow, no mercy." Mary cocked her gun and made her way outside.
The cold, winter air didn't affect her at all. She ran past hundreds of soldiers. She looked up to see a tin man flying.
That's one. She sped up to get into the woods.
An arrow went flying toward her and she caught it in mid air. The look on the hero's face showed Mary he didn't expect that. She ran to him and tackled him.
He punched her. She returned his punch and flipped off of him. She held her gun up to him, but he kicked it out of her hands, making it fly across the battlefield.
"I have a young girl." He said through his communications system.
"No shit." Mary grabbed his arm, twisting it behind his back.
A big green monster tore Mary off of the man. "Thanks." He stood to his feet.
The monster threw Mary into a tree. She coughed to catch her breath. A streak ran past her, throwing the man.
He stopped in front of him. "You didn't see that coming?" He asked in a thick Sokovian accent.
"You're Sokovian." Mary stepped up to him cautiously.
"Yes." He nodded. "And you're gorgeous. I'm Pietro."
"Hey, we're supposed to fighting." The man on the ground said. "Not flirting."
Pietro zipped away before the man could shoot him with his arrow. A tank shot the man in the hip. Pietro took a man with a shield out from under his feet.
"Clint's hit!" A red head came to help Clint.
Mary was ordered to find a man with a shield. She was told to kill him first.
"Can someone do something about that bunker?" The red head asked.
The monster that had tried to kill Mary busted through the tank. She shrugged it off, following her orders to kill the man. She found him running toward her, hitting other soldiers with his shield.
Mary hid behind a tree as the heroes began to join together. She watched the man with the shield talk to a blond man. She snuck around trees, dodging their vision to get behind them with a sneak attack.
When the man with the hammer flew off, Mary jumped on the man's back. She wrapped her arm around his neck and tightened it. He slammed his shield to her head, knocking her to the ground.
Mary was back on her feet, but the man was standing still. He recognized the white t-shirt with camo pants and boots. He recognized the platted brown hair. He recognized the way she stood.
Mary ran full force at him. He held up his shield to keep from getting any bad hits.
"Mary!" He shouted. "Is that you?"
"Hail Hydra." Mary tore the shield oit of his hands.
He grabbed her mask and ripped it off. "Mary, it's you!" He jerked his shield back. "It's me, Steve!"
"My orders were to kill you." Mary's body continued to fight, but Steve could see the pure fear in her eyes.
"I need a Hulk to come hold someone." Steve continued to block Mary's shots. "Keep her alive. If she comes out dead, I'll kill someone."
Hulk roared and wrapped his arms around the small girl. He took her out of the way of the battlefield for blond man to hold her down with his hammer. Mary struggled to get up due to the impossibly heavy tool.
After everyone got things calmed down, Steve squatted next to Mary. "Mary, you have to listen to me-"
"Hail Hydra." Mary bared her teeth, swinging her fists.
"Tony, get Jarvis to say 'release' in Sokovian." Steve said. "I'm gonna give her my earpiece."
The owner of the hammer held Mary's left wrist, Steve held her right wrist, and the red head held her legs. Steve held the earpiece up to her ear.
"звільнення." Jarvis said.
Mary's eyes closed. They shot open and she looked around at everyone.
"Steve?" She blinked the sun out of her eyes and shivered. "Why is it so cold?"
The man with the hammer took it back. Mary jumped to her feet. She looked around nervously.
"Where are we? Who are you guys? Why does my face hurt?"
"Mary." Steve held a hand out to his best friend. "We'll explain everything later."
"No!" Mary pushed Steve away. "I need a cigarette. I need to get to the diner. Did we win the war? Did I get shot and forget up until the night in the pub?"
"Mary!" Steve shouted. "You've been frozen for seventy years. I was too. It's not 1943 anymore. Your diner is a pet store now."
"Who are you guys?" Mary looked at the others.
"We're the Avengers." The guy holding the hammer put his hands on his hips.
"I mean your names, dammit." Mary snapped.
"Oh, I'm Thor." The man smiled proudly. "Son of Odin."
"Odin the god?" Mary looked at Steve in disbelief.
"I'm Natasha." The only woman smiled. "I'm an assassin, but a good one."
A chill ran down the girl's spine. "I don't understand."
