AN: Hello! This chapter is kinda all over the place but it's just to introduce some new plot points and characters. Hope you still like it though!
Woods stared at the ladder in front of her. Her dress was not so neatly folded in her arms and her flats were back on her feet. They were dingy and covered in splatters of mud and god knows what else from the sewer floor. The turtles had guided Woods to a manhole just around the corner from her apartment. It had been a weary walk for her eyes hadn't completely adjusted to the darkness. She had to hold onto Raph's shell half of the way there.
Leo cleared his throat behind the girl. Woods hadn't noticed that she was only looking at the ladder not climbing it. She didn't want to leave. Well, she did and she didn't. An ordinary life waited for Woods on the top side. School work, chores, and responsibilities lay ahead of her up there. But down in the sewers, for the one night she was there, Woods felt a sort of freedom and peace as weird as it was.
Woods shuffled her feet and turned to the group behind her. A nervous smile adorned her features although it was a genuine one.
"I want to thank you all again for harboring me for the night. I still don't fully understand all of this but either way, I'm thankful for the help."
"It's not a problem, we'd be happy to help anytime." Leo smiled as his hands latched onto his waistband.
"Yeah and you have to play video games with me!" Mikey chimed.
"Plus you have to show me your hidden talent sometime." Donnie winked at Woods earning him and her looks of suspicion and curiosity.
The purple clad turtle only shrugged off the look and nodded at Woods.
"Sure thing D. We'll make an appointment." Woods chuckled.
Woods turned around and placed a hand on the ladder. Leo had already opened the cover, all Woods had to do was climb. She took one step and then another, keeping her grip tight on the cold and damp metal. When she neared the top Raph shouted from below.
"Maybe next time we see you I won't chuck a sword at yer head!"
Woods rolled her eyes and chuckled at the gaff. She pulled herself and her belongings out of the sewers and into the small alleyway. She peered over the edge into the dark and shouted back.
"Sounds like a plan!"
Chuckling was heard below and the shuffling of feet as the turtles moved away back towards their lair. "See ya princess!" Raph's voice echoed through the tunnel and up to Woods, fading with every moment.
The silver haired girl let out a sigh. They were gone. She was back in reality. At least the reality she knew. A car horn sounded from the main road along with the chorus of cussing and insults. New York was just as lively as ever, even in the East Village. Woods rose from her knees and pulled the manhole cover back into place. She checked her phone to see that she had plenty of time before her mother came home and made her way to her and April's apartment building.
----
Woods walked into her home with a tired drudge. She wasn't exactly physically tired, but her brain seemed to be half asleep. A part of her was still trying to process last night's events. She had gone to prom, been ditched by her date, and met four mutant turtles and one very polite mutant rat man. What a night.
Woods shut the front door behind her and tossed her dress onto the couch. She pulled out her phone and texted April.
