I wake up to a bright light shining in my eyes.

I groan, and attempt to roll over.. except I can't because some giant man child is holding me too tight and I can barely move.

What the frick?

Wait a second, there's no pillow, no blankets, no bed.

Where am I?

I finally decide to open my eyes, but I almost have to shut them immediately because it's so bright.

Eventually my eyes adjust, and I remember where I am.

I detach myself from the giant monkey hanging on me, and sit up, suddenly realizing how wierd it must look that we're lying in the middle of the floor, because there a whole group of people who just came out of the elevator who are staring down at us like we're the weirdest people in the world.

"Mind your own business, there's nothing to see here, move along!" I practically shout at them, not able to believe that I let Luke get me into this situation.

He groans, and pulls me back down next to him, so I fall over on top of him.

I swat his hands away, and sit up, grabbing his shoulders so he sits up with me.

"No." He groans, rubbing his eyes.

But then he opens his eyes and realizes what's happening.

His mouth forms an "o" shape, before he stands up, pulling me with him.

Well I guess there goes our date.

He grabs my hand, and we silently make our way to the elevator, too embarrassed to say anything.

However, as soon as we get in the elevator by ourselves, we burst out laughing. I don't even know what's so funny, but being with Luke just makes everything a million times funnier.

Eventually we calm down, and we just kind of stand there awkwardly, because that's how awkward of a person I am.

"So, um, not the best first date." He chuckles.

I laugh.

"It went so much better last time." He mumbles to himself, but I hear it.

"What do you mean, 'last time'?" I question.

"Nothing, I meant... the last time I was up here."

Still unconvinced, I just nod and look away.

"I, um, I had a good time though.. I don't know about you." He glances up at me, half smiling.

"I did too." I smile. A real genuine smile. For the first time in what feels like forever.

As we're getting on the subway, Luke suddenly freezes, grabbing my hand.

"What?" I question, looking up at him.

"Um, nothing. Let's just.. get on a different train."

"What are you talking about?" I pull him back onto the subway, confused, until I hear a girl's voice in front of me.

"Luke?" The girl, now standing directly in front of us, asks.

He winces, looking up at her. "Haley."

"Hi." She practically whispers.

"Um... hi. It's... good to see you again."

"It's not good to see you again, but, looks like we're stuck." She motions toward the now closing doors.

Sassy.

She's actually really pretty, with long, bleach blonde hair, and blue eyes that match Luke's. And she's like super skinny, with the perfect figure.

I literally could not be more jealous right now.

"Um, who are you?" I ask.

She reaches out and shakes my hand. "Haley. Luke's ex-girlfriend. And I'm assuming you're his current girlfriend?"

"Actually, n-" I start, but she cuts me off.

"Sorry, honey, but you won't be for long, he has a thing for getting girlfriends every few weeks, and then dumping them like trash when he's bored of them, which is often." She glares at Luke.

Obviously, she has some beef with him. I drop his hand, and look over at him, waiting for him to deny it.

He just stands there, silently, apparently still in shock from seeing Haley.

She crosses her arms over her chest. "What, you're not even going to say anything?"

He finally breaks out of his trance. "I- that- that's not true." He looks at me.

"Really, Luke? How many girlfriends have you had in the past year?" She smirks.

"You know, none of this really matters," I say, reaching for his hand again, hoping to comfort him. "We're just friends, hanging out."

She opens her mouth to say something else, but, fortunately, the doors open, and it's our stop.

"Let's go, he mumbles, dragging me off of the subway.

"What was that all about?" I ask once we're off the subway.

"She's just a little upset, things didn't end too well with us."

I laugh. "I figured that."

We walk in silence for a while, until we reach my apartment building.

"Well, we're back at your apartment." He sighs, stopping.

"Yeah." I look down at my shoes, not wanting my time with him to be over already.

"Let me walk to your door," he suggests.

So we walk inside and go up the elevator, then step out and walk down the hallway, stopping when we arrive at my door.

"Sorry if it sucked." He says.

"I actually," I say, laughing, "had a fun time with you, even if we got stuck on top of the Statue of Liberty."

"Great story to tell your children." He smirks.

"True," I laugh.

He just smiles down at me for a second, before leaning down and placing a kiss on my cheek.

"Thank you for a fun night." He says, before letting go of my hand and walking away.

-------------

After Luke left, I went inside the apartment and looked around for Emmy. She wasn't there, which was really weird.

I decide to go into my room and take a nap, having not gotten very much sleep the night before, due to us being stuck on top of the Statue of Liberty.

I lay myself down underneath the covers of my new bed, finally feeling a little more at home.

That was, of course, until I had a really disturbing dream.

It's dark, and I'm walking down the street, in between several trees. I'm by myself, and it takes me a second to realize why.

I'm sobbing. My head is in my hands, and I can barely walk. Sad music is blaring through my headphones, and there's this strong feeling of... depression. I feel it inside of me.

I have no idea why.

My wrists really hurt, and I'm almost too afraid to look at them, because I have a feeling I know what I'll see.

I decide to push up the sleeves of my hoodie anyway, and, sure enough, there are scars.

Fresh ones.
