Ch.10 "I'm not like you"

Hayes' Point Of View

How do I make this girl fall in love with me? She's quiet, extremely stubborn & very vulnerable. There's many ways I can get her to fall for me but which way to choose? I don't want to hurt her in the long run, I just want to prove a point that I can get any girl I desire. I could play the hard to get role, I can be flirty, the best friend role, there's so many possibilities. I just want to make it clear that I don't want to hurt her at all, Tess has been through so much and I don't want to add on to it. She's really nice, maybe I should get to know her better and seek her weak point and use that? I'm not quite sure, all I know is that a month is not a long amount of time to make a stranger, whom I've known for 1 week fall in love with me in only a month time period.

My thoughts were abruptly interrupted when the bell rang to get to my next class. When I exited I saw Tess and Aubrey getting into it. Here comes trouble.

Tess Point Of View

I gave the office my excused note from the psychiatrist office, the bell had just rang and I scurried to my locker to beat the rush and to get to my next class on time. I put my stuff in my locker grabbing the things I needed for my next class, When I turned around Aubrey bumped into me making me drop all my stuff.

"Watch out cluts" Aubrey scoffed.

"You're the one who ran into me" I glared picking up my books from the ground.

"Excuse me, you're new here but that doesn't mean you get a free pass, got it? I run this school, you don't youre some nobody from who knows where? You better watch yourself, K?" Her tone changed.

Insecurity took over my body, I could feel the anxiety build up as people stared at me curious as to what was gonna happen next. I was lost for words, I began to choke.

"I-I" I couldn't speak, what was there to say? She was right, she was completley right.

"Aubrey. What are you doing?" Hayes came up behind me.

"Hayes, what do you want?" She rolled her eyes.

"For you to leave Tess alone, she's my friend, no need to put her through your torture" Hayes defended.

"Her? You don't even know her. She's not one of us" Audrey's words were like daggers.

But she was right, I'll never be like them, I'll never be one of them. I don't fit in here, and I don't know why I'm trying to. I'm not fit for Hayes, Not as a friend, not for anything. I can never ever be apart of his lifestyle as long as I try. It just wouldn't work. I'm some loser from Oregon, and he's captain of the football team. I spend my Friday Nights watching Gossip Girl, while he goes to parties and games. We're just not meant to be apart of each others worlds.

"This was a lovely chat, but I have to get to History. Nice talking to you" She faked a smile and walked away with her group of minions.

Hayes knelt down and helped me pick up my stuff and asked "Are you alright? I'm sorry about her."

"Hayes.. maybe we shouldn't be friends." I blurted as I stood up.

"What? why not?" His blue eyes turned sad.

"We just don't fit, We are two completely different people. I could never be apart of your world" I sighed.

"Tess look at me" Hayes demanded.

My teeth began to chatter, lips began to roll inwards.

"I'm not going anywhere. I don't care what Aubrey says, you're my friend. You shouldn't care either, she's just jealous that I get to call your beautiful self my friend, and not her. She wants you to suffer, but I won't let her. But please don't go" Hayes offered sweetly.

"I'm not like you" I reminded him.

"That's what I love about you Tess, you were born to stand out. So why are you trying so hard to fit in?" He asked.

I didn't know what to say. He left me speechless as always.

"Stay.." he begged.

I nodded in agreement, I'll never accept myself for what I am, but if Hayes can, I ought to give myself a shot.

He pulled me into his side and walked me to my next class under his arm. He pulled me closer than before and pressed his pink, plump lips to my head kissing it softly.

"I gotta go to Social Studies, sit with me at lunch?" Hayes asked.

"Yeah" I forced a smile.

Hayes nodded and pulled me into a hug in front of the door.

"Don't let her get to you, You have me, forever & always. I'll see you soon" He rubbed my back and left in a hurry so he wasn't more late than he already was for his next class.

*Lunch*

It was after class, I hurried out trying to avoid another run in with the wicked witch of the East, which I luckily did. I entered the lunch room and saw Hayes already sitting down with JT, our eyes caught each others causing a smile from the both of us. I sat down with them as his friends began to pile in giving me looks and glares. I couldn't dare think about eating only to have it come back up.

"Tess is my friend, she's yours too. Aubrey betrayed me, she's no longer apart of my life and Tess is. Give her a try" Hayes stuck up for me, he must of noticed the awkward silence too.

I saw Aubrey and her minions enter the cafeteria laughing and smiling. I was tired of being so vulnerable and helpless, I was tired of taking all the crap she gave me, She didn't even know me to be so hateful to me. I was gonna be heartless, ruthless if I had to. No more crying, I'm in control of me and she isn't about to put me through anymore hell than I've already been through.

Aubrey soon caught my gaze and her face turned from smiling and happy to a blood boiling bitch. She arched her way to our table and tried to cause a scene, a scene in which I was going to handle.

"What's she doing here at my table?' She said frusterated.

"You don't sit here anymore, I do" I answered her question confidently.

I don't know where this sudden burst of confidence came from, but it felt amazing.

"Excuse me?' She narrowed her dagger eyes at me.

"You heard me" I raised a brow.

"I'm the last person you want to mess with little T" She called.

"Actually? You're the first" I said my lips dripping with attitude.

I recieved surprised and approving facial expressions from everyone at the table.

"You pissed off the wrong bitch, Little T. Better watch yourself" She said leaving the table and her minions following.

I looked around at everyone at the table seeing them smirk and smile. Even Hayes looked impressed, which was extremley satisfying might I say.

"I've never see anyone stickmup to Aubrey like that. I'm Troye" A light brown haired boy who sat across from me said. He had dazzling light blue eyes like Hayes.

"Tess" I bit my lip.

Hayes pulled me into a tight side hug clearly proud.

"Hangout after school with me?' Hayes asked.

"I'd love to" I agreed satisfied with myself as well.
