He could feel the eyes watching him as he pulled up into the dirt driveway of the Lendalle Ranch. Taking a quick breathe, trying to soothe out the uneasiness he felt in his chest, he decided it was best to get this over with quickly. From exiting his car to walking over to the young man tying up the horse to the post connected to the house, Jeremy was shifting his feet and preparing what to say in his head. His first case without a partner and it was a murder case, brilliant.

"Excuse me sir, the name is Jeremy Neizer with the Hilmer County Police Department," Jeremy stands a few away, holding out his badge with furrowed eyebrows at the strangers easiness in front of an official.

"Trevor.. And this is Darla," The man, Trevor, gives the official a smile as he pets down his horse but it doesn't do much to help the nerves Jeremy is still feeling.

"Sorry to bother you Mr. Lendalle but we are investigating a murder and Miss Rionelle saw the perp running this way," Jeremy paused, looking into the calm eyes of Trevor Lendalle. "We are wondering if you have seen any suspicious activity these past 3 days."

"I haven't but my daddy might have." Jeremy calmly asks to speak to his father. "Sure, my daddy is probably in the barn, just 'round this way Sir."

The walk to the barn was quiet other than their footsteps. The air surrounding them was tense as Jeremy made sure to survey his surroundings. The house they were walking around was to his left, the barn directly behind the house, both surrounded by a fence then miles of open field then the dense forest that separated them from other farm land. While still looking around the area, Trevor took his time unlocking the barn doors and slowly pulling them open, a high shrieking noise coming from the rusty metal holding the doors to the barn.

"It's oddly cold in here Mr. Lendalle," Jeremy shivers as they walk a few steps into the barn, forcing him not to wrap his arms around himself for heat as it could leave it more vulnerable than he already was.

"Apologizes Sir, we have the freezer in the back where we store the meat," Trevor says it so calmly that Jeremy takes a quick second to fully process that statement.

"Sorry.. Meat?" Jeremy freezes, his hand subtly moving over the holster under his jacket just in case, watching as the smile on Trevor's face slowly moves to becoming something twisted.

And very subtly, the eyes that were on Jeremy's moved to something behind him that if he wasn't slowly panicking, he wouldn't have seen them move. But it didn't matter anymore as a loud thunk echoed around the barn.

And Jeremy's sight when black as his body dropped to the dirt floor.
