Today is my first day at the Behaviour Analysis Unit in Quantico, Virginia and to say that I'm stressed is an understatement. I just moved here and I know nothing about this place yet. The best that I could do for making my day easier today is prepared everything. I had prepared my bag and outfit from yesterday night. I chose a navy blue knee-length dress and a black blazer on top. All that paired with a pair of black high heels that made my legs look taller.
Someone would say that I'm trying to impress someone else and that would be partly true. The only meetings I had was with some Agents in much higher position that I was applying and Agent Strauss. But the Agent that I spoke on the phone with a couple of weeks ago, Agent Aaron Hotchner, had such a sexy voice over the phone and it would be a shame if he wasn't good looking too. I am not planning on doing anything with him because he is my boss, but it would be nice to give a good first impression. And also I promised to myself that I'm not gonna date an Agent again since last time didn't go very well...
I ate breakfast really quickly and got dressed. I did my hair, put some light make up on and I look myself in the mirror. I could hear my mom's voice in my head saying "Following your daddy's steps" and I smile to my reflection in the mirror. I take a deep breath and I look at my apartment. It is brand new cause I moved in here just two weeks ago. 'This is my life now' I think to myself. I got the job I wanted and an amazing home. I'm a responsible adult. My life is kinda starting to be in an order. Who would imagine that?'
Ok, reflection time is over. I turn away from the mirror and I grab my bag, my go-bag that Agent Hotchner recommend I should have, my keys and phone. I get out of my apartment, locking the door and I head to my car.
When I arrived at the BAU, the waiting for the elevator seemed like a decade. The elevator opens and I step inside. Just before the elevator's doors close, someone stops them by putting his hand in the middle. The doors open again revealing a serious but also really attractive man, probably an agent. He steps inside the elevator with me and the doors close.
"Hi, you should be the new Agent I'm expecting today. Jessie Grey, right?" he asks
"Yes" I say . I immediately recognised his voice from the phone call. "And must be..." I say offering my hand
"Agent Aaron Hotchner" he says shaking my hand. "It's nice to meet you" he says
"It's nice to meet you too" I say
"I remembered you from your photo in the papers" he says
"Well, that was certainly not the most flattering picture of me" I say with a chuckle and he smiles which he doesn't seem to do often.
"Anyway, Agent Strauss gave me your new badge and gun and they are waiting for you in my office. After you sign the last papers and take them, you can meet the team" he says
"Great" I say as the elevator's doors open
"Follow me" he says and I nod. "Do you have a go-bag ready?" he asks as we walk
"Yes sir. It's in my car" I answer immediately
"Good. You might need it" he says
"Oh wow" I say surprised
"Is there a problem?" he asks
"No, of course not. I just didn't expect that I would work on a case from the first day" I say
"Are you not ready?" he asks
"No, I'm totally ready" I say
"Good" he says as he opens the door to his office for me.
"Take a seat" he says and I do. I look at his office and there are family pictures. But there is no ring in his finger. He walks to the other side of the office and sits on his chair. He takes a pen out and hands it to me. Our hands accidently touched again, softer than the last the handshake in the elevator, and this time sending a wave of chills allover my body. I stuck there for a second but shook my head and moved on taking the pen. "You sign here and here..." he says pointing at the place of the paper I should sign "... making sure that you received your badge and gun" he continues.
"Ok" I say and I put my signature on the papers. He pushes them towards me and stands up. I stand up too and he offers his hand. I shake his hand without being able to hide my smile
"Welcome Agent Grey".
"Let's go meet the rest of the team" Agent Hotchner says
"Ok" I say following him out of his office.
"Conference room" he orders and five agents follow us. He leads me probably in the conference room that he mentioned "Here is where we talk about the cases before we travel there. We make a first evaluation, give a first general profile if we can" he says and I nod. He turns towards the other agents "This is Agent Emily Prentiss, Agent Derek Morgan, Agent Jennifer Jareau, Agent David Rossi and Dr Spencer Reid. Guys this is Agent Jessie Grey" he says
"Nice to meet you all" I say
"Nice to meet you too" they say.
"Come with me. Let me introduce you to babygirl" agent Morgan says and I nod snapping out of my thoughts
"Sure" I say and I follow him "Girlfriend?" I ask
"What? No" he says. "Your desk is right there. We'll come back later" he says pointing down and the desks as we walk. "And here is the amazing and incredible Penelope Garcia" he says opening the door and she turns her chair to see us
"Hi, I'm Jessie Grey" I say
"Hi, it's nice to meet you" she says as we shake hands
"It's nice to meet you too. So amazing and incredible" I say looking at all the screens around the room
"Yeah and he forgot to mention gorgeous, smart and the best" she says.
"I totally agree" I say and she smiles even more
"Great. I already like you. Now get out babies because I gotta work" she says returning to her screens.
"Follow me to your desk princess" he says escorting me out of the room. "This is your desk..." he says as we get there "And the coffee is right there" he says pointing at the small kitchen in the back of the room.
"Good to know" I say "Thanks for the tour" I continue and he nods with a smile and goes to his desk.
I see agent Jareau coming towards me "Hi, I hope your ready" she says showing me a file in her hands
"Me too" I say and she smiles
"Welcome to the team Agent Grey" she says offering her hand
"Thank you agent Jareau" I say shaking her hand
"Just JJ, please" she says
"Ok, got it" I say.
"We got a case" she announce to all of us and we follow her to the conference room. I sit next to agent Prentiss and agent Hotchner. He reaches over to the middle of the table where the case files were and grabs one for himself and another that hands to me. "Thank you" I say
"You're welcome. I recommend you stay with me today so you can see how we work since this is your first case" he says
"Ok" I say. 'More than ok actually' I think to myself. 'No, Jessie! Stop! He's your boss!'.
"Four dead people and one more missing over the last month. First victim was a male, the rest were female. All of them in their late twenties. All four bodies were discovered about a day after their death and all of them seemed like they were gone through a surgery" JJ says and the pictures show up on the screen. The chest and the whole torso of the victims' had multiple cuts that were actually stitched up. "The local PD believes that we are dealing with another Jack the ripper with the difference that this person is taking care of them even after they die. That's why the stitching and cleaning from the blood" she continues.
"Maybe he feels guilty for killing them and makes sure they're looking healthy" Emily says
"Wheels up in 30" agent Hotchner says.
